Anne Hathaway and Singer Chris Lee are the Stars of the New Versace Icons Collection
Versace just launched their new Versace Icons collection on April 3, available in stores and on their website. Versace’s new line features actress and fashion icon Anne Hathaway and singer Chris Lee.
This line is a glimpse into the wardrobe of Donatella Versace and what she wears in her daily life. She commented on this collection and said, “I will wear every item in this collection, as I have done with similar items for decades. These wardrobe essentials of luxury they have a perfect fit and enhance the beautiful and extraordinary simplicity of our shapes.”
Photographers, Mert & Marcus, wanted to portray a femme fatale who thrives and loves being in the city at night. Between the black pieces with classic silhouettes and the photographer's storyline, the two icons show off their powerful, elegant, and feminine energy.
Anne Hathaway has said “I’m so proud of these images which seem to represent Donatella’s vision of empowerment. What has left the biggest impression on me from this amazing experience is Donatella’s heart, generosity, and kindness.” Donatella Versace has expressed her love and admiration for Anne Hathaway many times and said “She is a huge star, she is a businesswoman, she is creative, and she is exceptionally kind. That is what makes a Versace Icon!”
Chris Lee has expressed her excitement about this campaign and described Donatella Versace as someone who wants to defy the traditional idea of femininity and turn it towards empowerment and inclusivity. She also mentioned, “With Versace icons, we demonstrate that fashion is not what women should wear, but rather the ability to freely choose what they want to wear, at any time."
Donatella Versace wants Versace Icons to challenge everyday dress and make it all more extraordinary. It is inspired by Versace’s daily wardrobe and the Spring 1995 Atelier Versace collection. The 1995 collection showcased simple and classic silhouettes with tailoring that make women feel more confident about themselves. Gianni Versace had an interview with Vogue about it and said, “I want to make people believe in fashion again [. . .] It’s the body-consciousness of today’s women that gives the return to glamour a real current attitude.”
You will also find similar classic silhouettes and tailoring in this new Versace Icons collection. Some of the staple pieces from the line are a corset top with Medusa emblems on the gold straps, a fitted midi dress with the same Medusa straps, leather jackets, and tailored pants.
