Euphoria-Inspired Eye Makeup Looks to Spice Up Your Life
If you haven’t seen Euphoria on HBO Max yet, or may not plan to, you will see the makeup looks from the show almost everywhere on social media or real-life. Doniella Davy, Euphoria’s head makeup artist, does a great job to envelop each character’s persona and growth through the use of makeup. The aesthetics of Euphoria have impacted our culture and will not go away. Euphoria lover or not, read below to get inspired.
Rue’s Winter Formal Look
An elusive, addictive personality, yet emotional and real, Rue is going through a lot in her high school career. Davy uses glitter surrounding her eyes dipping beneath her lash line and burgundy to emphasize her “hero color” throughout Season 1 and imitate her Winter Formal outfit. Davy applied a Kevyn Aucoin burgundy eyeshadow color as the base pigment from the Electropop Pro eyeshadow palette on Rue’s lid. She also suggests applying a color with your fingers to get “optimal pigment”. Then she went in with Glitter Injections “Blueberry” pressed glitter over the burgundy pigment to create a two-toned effect. On Rue’s temples, Davy pressed on Glitter Injections “Star of the Sea” iridescent stars. Under the eye near the lower lash line, Davy used a gel eyeshadow for longwear by Lemonhead LA in the shade “Houdini”. To line her lower waterline, Davy uses the Makeup Forever pencil in the shade “Free Burgundy”. For the finishing touch, she added a Face Lace iridescent star underneath Rue’s left eye.
Maddy’s Winged Gemstones
Maddy’s character on Euphoria faces a lot of trauma but displays herself as fierce through her feminine, enchanting makeup. From her cat-winged liner, to rhinestone gems being placed along the wing, her eyelid, or her eyebrows, it creates an iconic look that many people are recreating. To recreate this look yourself, you will need Danessa Myricks Waterproof Cushion Color in “Liquid Lilac” and apply it close to the lash line with an angled brush till it reaches the end of your eyebrow. Then, use a soft bristle brush to spread the color upward onto the lid. Next, layer on the Danessa Myricks Twin Flames in “Young Love” on top of the lavender color and blend upwards towards the brow bone. To create a winged liner, use a liquid black liner or a black gel liner with an angled brush. For the final touch, you can add rhinestones to the upper part of your lid.
Jules’s Eclectic Eyeshadow
Jules’s unconventional makeup emphasizes her bold, playful, independent personality. Many of her liner looks are vibrant neon colors in playful shapes and lines. This look shown above is a bright red liner and eyeshadow surrounding her eye and blended outwards to create a faded look. In the inner corners of her eyes are Face Lace gold liner stickers that can be applied simply by pressing them onto your eye carefully.
Kat’s Rebellious Phase
In the beginning of the show, Kat barely wore makeup. When she began developing a sense of her individuality, she started wearing more bolder, gothic, edgy, bad-girl looks. In the image above, Kat is sporting a bold NYX cream eyeliner in “Get Money” spread out all over the lid with Stila’s Heaven’s Hues powder highlighter to go over it. A darker green shadow aligns the lower lash line for a smokier look. And of course, some waterline black eyeliner to top it off.
Cassie’s Rhinestone Eyeliner
Cassie wears minimal makeup looks most of the time. She has her bold looks, but the subtleties are beautiful and simplistic. The mini rhinestones outlined on the corners of her eyes emphasize a feminine look while also making a statement. To prepare where to place the rhinestones, lightly dot your eye with white eyeliner and place the rhinestones on the desired spot with lash glue. Voila! You will look like Cassie in two seconds.
