Fashion for Relief and the Fashion Trust of Arabia Took Over Qatar to Celebrate Regional Designers

Naomi Campbell brought her Fashion for Relief charity show to Doha with the help of Qatar Creates. 

Fashion for Relief new partnership took it the a whole new level as it becomes a new global program under the name EMERGE. A visionary protect that aims to help creatives from emerging regions have a platform to stand on. Talented, dedicated and passionate people need more than their will and abilities to succeed, so protects like this help create spaces that allow them to participate and develop. The supermodels charity focuses on providing new apprenticeships, after-school programs for disciplines such as art, fashion and innovation.

EMERGE was divided into 3 different main events, one covering art, fashion and a Emerge Talk. A summit that took Qatar by storm as it summoned some of the biggest names in fashion for its fashion show inc,using super model Bella Hadid, Alpha Día and Abdi Omar. An event that is set to bring to the forefront emerging talents from Africa and the Diaspora. In its first edition it featured a staggering 50 leading fashion houses and 20 emerging designers!

Opening the show was Bella Hadid in head to toe Prada sporting the very trendy no brows look and a Julia Fox like eye makeup.

Fashion for Relief always gathers a huge crowd that bri g their best looks forward, this year was no difference. Amongst the guests where YouTuber Noor Stars wearing Zegna Zaki, entrepreneur Leomie Anderson wearing Halpern Studio, Leonine Hanne in Tony Ward, editor at large for Vogue Japan Anna Dello Russo in a pastel pink Giorgio Armani and Miss Paula Abdul in a mint Tony Ward couture gown. 

Qatar went all out as the celebrations and fashion didn’t stop there. The same week the Fashion Trust Arabia held its fourth annual FTA Prize Award Ceremony alongside Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, honorary chair, founder Tania Fares and Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani chairperson of Qatar museums. A trust dedicated since its inception to helping designers from the Middle Eastern and North Africa region.

This year, the FTA jury was composed by Pierpaola Piccioli of Valentino, Michele Lamy, Amina Muaddi and Laura Kim who gave out the 6 awards of the night. In addition to the established categories the FTA recognized Huda Kayan of Huda Beauty as the Entrepeneur of the Year. She has created one of the most influential beauty platforms and brands worldwide.

The event which celebrates and supports the future of fashion saw exactly that reflected on each of the designers awarded. Providing a space that celebrates their past and future as they open the door to a global market, spotlighting regional fashion creatives. 

From the hopeful applicants this 6 designers, selected by the prestigious jury, took home the big prizes.

Accessories designer: Eilaf Osman

Eveningwear designer: Artsi Ifrach – Maison ARTC

Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award: Kazna Asker

Guest Country Award Türkiye: Burç Akyol

Each talented winner not only won the recognition their hard work deserves but also a fincnaila support of $200,00 and a mentorship program with FTA partners.

Breaking into the fashion industry is not easy so this first steps will pave the way for all the winners to bring their creations to the rest of the world.

Doha witnessed the beginning of what will sure become successful careers from all FTA winners and with EMERGE’s welcoming of  award-winning designers Bianca Saunders, Madison Artc, Nkwo Onwuka, Abdel El Tayeb and Lamine Kouyate and new talents foresdahows and exciting future for fashion.
