Gucci’s Love Letter to Old Hollywood: Alessandro Michele’s Gucci Love Parade Campaign
You may be wondering what could possibly be meant by a “Gucci Love Parade”? Well, it was quite literally a parade. It was a parade of fashion. Not any fashion either, it was a retrospective of Old Hollywood Glamour. This past November, Alessandro Michele, the creative director for Gucci, took over Hollywood Boulevard to show the “Love Parade” collection. Old Hollywood Glamour is a part of our fashion today in so many ways. Everywhere you turn there are sequins, satin, and black sleek looks that indirectly embody the Old Hollywood Glamour. Gucci takes this to another level with featured artists to promote the collection in an advertising campaign before the presentation in LA. Artists include Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, Jared Leto, and Lee-Jung Jae to name a few. They were dressed in retro-glam, eclectic pieces.
Miley was dressed in a lace bra top with matching high knee stockings, heels, and a white fur jacket and skirt while surfing the crowd. Snoop Dogg wore a green satin suit with a black hat while eating cake. Jared Leto was pouring sugar into his mouth wearing a brown-silver satin suit. Can it get any more avant-garde Hollywood glamor than this?
Gucci showed beautiful looks walking down Hollywood Boulevard. The fur, the feathers, the metallics, the satin, we can’t help but not write about it! Here are some of the few that could capture your attention from a mile away…
It does not get more Hollywood glam than this. This in fact is Marilyn Monroe reincarnated to the 2022 version. With the light yellow satin dress paired with a feather shawl and black patent leather gloves you just might have to do a double take if you do not think this is inspired by Old Hollywood. The sequin wig and insect sunglasses add a modern touch to the subject and pull the look together.
Next up, she is beauty, she is grace…. The red chiffon mini dress. The hot pink feather trim along the end of the sleeves and train following the back of the dress provides the analogous colors that complement each other. With a plunging neck and high knee lace brown stockings, the look is fun and elegant at the same time.
And of course the metallics have to come out to play. Pleated silver and wrapped across the torso, the silver gown flaunts Hollywood in its golden era. Orry Kelly is quaking with happiness (may he rest in peace). However, Gucci does an amazing job embodying the golden era of Hollywood with a touch of modernity. The look is paired with lace stockings that peak out of the bottom of the dress, and is worn under black stilettos.
Last but not least of the many looks, we have the ultimate feather of feathers ensemble. The entire coat draping down from the shoulder to mid-calf is full of black feathers truly capturing the essence of Old Hollywood. Paired with a leather skirt, black top, and jeweled choker, this look is jaw-dropping. The sunglasses add a hint of even more drama with its wings on each side and rhinestones around the top edges.
We are freaking as much as you are about the campaign and how the presentation turned out. Alessandro Michele never fails to create the most eccentric collection and puts on a show on top of it all.
