Coachella Definitely Knows His Name, Labrinth & Billie Eilish Perform Hit Single

Timothy McKenzie has absolutely exploded in the music industry within the past few years. You may also know him as the genius behind the soundtrack of hit series Euphoria. Taking his musical magic to the next level as he just performed at Coachella this past Saturday night.

However, his Coachella concert was not just a regular show. McKenzie performed “Never Felt So Alone” with his newfound friend and music partner Billie Eilish. McKenzie brought Eilish out on stage and the crowd erupted in excitement because they knew that the pair was going to sing their recently released single. This song has been in the making for multiple years and when the intro was used for Euphoria season 1 the audience was waiting and waiting for the official drop of the song.

When McKenzie was asked about this song he said, “Once I started piecing the song together, I was just like, “Do you know what? I think this is the moment where I think Billie would be a sick addition.’” I would have to agree with him on that part because when I first heard the song it made total sense that they collaborated on it together. Their music's slow and gentle styles blended together beautifully in the single.

The song itself is entrancing with its alternative and electronic instrumentals and when reading the lyrics you can tell that there is meaning behind the words. During Coachella, they performed the song live, and watching the videos gives just a glimpse of the euphoric feelings the crowd must have felt during the set. Between the 21-year-old Grammy-Award-winning artist and the 32-year-old producer, rapper, and singer the air was exhilarating.

Before McKenzie was performing at famous music festivals and performing with major names in the music industry, he was a producer. McKenzie was creating music that everyone loved and it showed as a few of his songs started reaching the top three and number one on the UK Singles Chart and UK R&B Chart.

After seeing his success, there were many labels that reached out to him but he eventually signed with Simon Cowell’s label, SyCo. Cowell was his first choice because he was given creative freedom and he was told by Cowell to be himself and make music that speaks to him and shows who he is. This was a big moment for both since McKenzie was finally signed and Cowell took on an artist that wasn’t from a talent show for the first time in 6 years.

This was also not the first time that the two performed on stage together. Back in December during Eilish’s hometown concert in Inglewood, California. Towards the end of her set, the “Formula” singer stepped on stage in the dark and made his presence known by starting the introduction of the song “Mount Everest”. They both went on to finish that song and sing “Never Felt So Alone” for the first time during a live performance.

Between the December and Coachella performances with McKenzie and Eilish, the audience can feel that they create such an energetic environment. Currently, we have “Never Felt So Alone” and another single “Kill For Your Love” and they are both on his new album, Ends & Begins, which has yet to be fully released. With all of these exciting events happening for the British singer let’s hope that he will plan for more live concerts and the release of his album soon because I know that I can’t wait for it.
