Nordeen was started up in 2020 by designer Brenna Simmons. After struggling to find pieces that accommodated the natural setting of her own elopement, Simmions decided to design what she noticed was missing from the bridal scene. The name Nordeen comes from her family’s surname and her great-grandfather’s jewelry company. Simmons explains that the surname is no longer used in her family, but she wanted to revive that creative part of her heritage in her own company. Weddings are about uniting families, so it’s only fitting that Simmons created a label rooted in family. Trends and styles come and go, so Nordeen continuously evolves to produce timeless dresses that are fit for any environment. Preserving the beauty of nature is important to the label, so they choose to use natural materials that still have a luxurious feel.

Nordeen is committed to producing quality gowns while being a responsible and honest company. This commitment requires constant evolution and adaptation. They have partnered with manufacturers and suppliers, many of which are women-owned, with the same values. Each piece is made of natural fibers and environmentally friendly materials, and they are knitted and sewed by skilled individuals in New York and Los Angeles. Nordeen also has certifications that recognize their dedication to sustainable practices including: Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Seri.Co’s Clean Silk Certification, and Responsible Wool Standard. These certifications demonstrate that Nordeen is honest about their sustainable practices, and they don’t try to mislead customers.

Simmons’ prelude collection for Nordeen was inspired by the Sahara Desert. She explains,

“This collection represents the soft, billowing winds that sweep across the copper sands. The delicate, natural silks create the same arched peaks as the swept together sand dunes, rippling with the uneven texture reflected in the crinkle chiffon. The raw edge hems flick off golden specks as the breezed whips them across the Sahara floor. Exuding desert warmth, each gown was handmade to be worn whilst barefoot, running across the sun kissed landscape.”

Nordeen’s designs are effortlessly graceful. They are classic and flattering, which are the two most important qualities of a wedding dress. The movement and flow of the natural fabrics give the dresses an ethereal aesthetic. Nordeen bridal gowns can become one with nature and fit perfectly into any wedding or elopement location.
