Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Show Volume 4:
Groundbreaking, historical, legendary. A few words used to describe Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty show Volume 4 that premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, November 9th. The show opened up with Rihanna herself, giving a show stopping performance being her first after giving birth to her and Rocky’s first child. Embracing motherhood, the fashion star opened the show as mother nature in style, wearing a blue corset, sheer gloves and stockings with a black tulle shrug surrounded by nature, as well as men that were supposedly “creatures” in the wilderness.
The show not only highlighted the importance of diversity in fashion, but highlighted the importance of high quality garments catering to the needs of everyone, which Rihanna executed right!
A depiction of Wakanda Forever, the singer incorporated an African feel throughout the whole set up of production. Celebrating African and Caribbean ethnic groups through dancing and musical artists to represent the artistry from those regions. The pieces consisted of lingerie, pajamas, loungewear and a newly-introduced sport line ranging in sizes from XS-4XL. From the smooth silk styles, to the crisp satin styles every garment featured its own unique detail which stood out from one piece to the other like never before.A repetition of lace-up details are seen throughout the whole production worn by models of all shapes and sizes, the detail consists of colors such as black and purple.
Not only did the fashion show level up with the release of new garments, so have the models. The show featured many iconic A-Listers including the likes of Taraji P. Henson, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Simu Li and Sheryl Lee Ralph. A controversial moment for many, the fashion show also featured yesterday’s big thing, actor Johnny Depp. Turning heads the actor hit the runway in a monochromatic green loungewear set which is loosely fit showcasing the brand's new line of loungewear for men.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor made history, being one of the first males to headline for the show’s star moment, in which legends such as Erykah Badu, and Cindy Crawford had recently done.
He is seen walking through a “forest” while 2001 Outkasts’s hit single “So Fresh And So Clean” is playing, with a smirk on his face, and hair tied back Depp gave us a show to remember.
The new mother yet again showcased the importance of celebrating and embracing each other and our different ethnic roots. We see this through the whole production of the show from the music, featuring a variety of artists such as Burna Boy, Annitta, Don Toliver. Models of all shapes and sizes, using her platform to educate while breaking societal norms.
This marks the fourth consecutive year of Savage x Fenty Fashion show, and we are here for it. Rihanna has persuaded nothing but excellence from the beginning to the end of the show. A jungle that views all as one, and one as all.
