Some Resort 2023 Shows You May Have Missed This Week in Paris
If you didn’t know, the runway has been serving some looks these past few weeks. Here are some shows you may have missed that you need to see…
Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton put on a show with their Greek mythological theme. A lot of the looks touched on elements embodying the sun specifically such as metallic to reflect sunlight, airbrushed colors, and maximal.
Y/Project
As seen in the partnership with Jean Paul Gautlier, Y/Project incorporates many illusions in their recent collection. However, instead of the naked, trompe l’oeil looks, the emphasis was on the laidback nature of certain pieces of clothing such as jeans, vests, and polos. These illusions were printed on ribbed knits and slips.
Casablanca
Charaf Tajer brought Mexico to Paris by creating a “psychedelic ranch” to give everyone a taste of his recent trip to Mexico. Tajer even brought animals out to fashion week- they didn’t seem too enthused though. His collection showed many embellished denim, embroidered chaps, colored panels embracing Mexico’s architecture, and satin traje de luces.
Commes De Garcon
Rei Kawakubo centered this runway show around clowns, bold patterns, marvelous tailoring, and creepy music from the “Psycho” soundtrack. So, if you are not into horror or clowns, this may not be a show for you. However, the looks are unbelievable. Balloon pants, bell-shaped top coats, volumized jackets, and cigarette pants were few of the many pieces to this outlandish collection.
Marine Serre
The Marine Serre show took place on the southern edge of Paris’s metro system in a sports field to emphasize “community” and being present. Many looks were shown including upcycled t-shirts, patched denim, Chanel-esque jackets, sneakers, pumps, upcycled jewelry pieces, and some silk pieces. Of course most pieces were also embroidered with Serre’s signature crescent moon.
AMI
Alexandre Mattiussi celebrates French culture for the runway’s gorgeous backdrop to show off his new collection. His new collection is the epitome of Paris Chic with sequined pants, a matching sequined bra top, straight-legged pants, stripes, blazers, half-buttoned shirts, short shorts for men, thigh high boots, and the debut of the Le Besace bag. Cara Delevigne, Paloma, and Precious Lee to name a few, stunned the runway, while celebrities such as Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey, model Carla Bruni, Euphoria star Angus Cloud, and supermodel Naomi Campbell were in the audience.
