Stella Takes Sustainability to the Next Level
When it comes to sustainable luxury fashion, Stella McCartney is paving the way. Known for their eco-friendly clothes, composed of innovative materials, with fair labor practices and limited greenhouse emissions, no one is doing it like them. The brand Fall 23 collection “TreeHugger” is in stores now. They call it their most natural positive collection yet, using 94% responsible materials.
The inspiration for this collection was nature itself, in an Instagram post announcing the launch of the collection, the brand states,
“Inspired by a love for Mother Earth and trees, Autumn 2023 gets back to our roots - representing iconic Stella staples with contemporary cuts, craftsmanship, and conscious innovations planting the seeds of a better tomorrow.”
As described, the collection looks straight out of nature. Models shot their looks outside among nature with small backdrops. Natural elements are found throughout the pieces in unique ways. The vegan brand makes a statement with the use of python print throughout the collection in blouses, dresses, and boots. The pattern is an excellent imitation of one of the most popular exotic animal skins. Proving just how possible to love your planet and take inspiration rather than source from animals. A variety of oversized teddy coats with tree bark prints are also found throughout the collection, these pieces have a design resembling a variety of different trees and do not utilize any real fur.
Stella McCartney also uses a variety of Vegan leathers to create their iconic handbags. The Frayme Tote bag features Alter Mat vegan leather, vintage silver studs, GOTS- certified cotton. The brand is also proud to announce that the viscose used in a variety of the collection's pieces is made of FSC-certified wood pulp but has plans in the future to move away from the use of wood pulp completely.
Stella McCartney is known for their love of the planet, encouraging shoppers to sign petitions and donating earnings to environmental causes. With consumers becoming more and more conscious of the footprint their apparel purchases make, Stella McCartney is ahead of the game, focusing on making fashionable clothes for a healthier planet.
