The 2023 Cannes Film Festival Best Fashion Moments
One of the biggest fashion events of the year, although it is not technically for fashion, started last week and will go until May 27th. We got to see some of our favorite celebrities walk the red carpet and their looks were giving classy, daring, and all-around stunning. Here are some of my favorite looks from the festival.
Kate Beckinsale stepped onto the red carpet in a bejeweled sheer bodysuit with mini shorts. She wore a voluminous light silk mint green open skirt with the bodysuit that matched perfectly and accentuated her waist and finished with a bow in the front. She accessorized with jade earrings, diamond rings, and silver metallic platform heels.
Lily Rose-Depp showed up in, of course, a little black dress from Chanel for the film festival. Her look for her HBO series premiere “The Idol” debuted at the Chanel Fall/Winter 1994 runway show and she looked stunning in it. The sparkly black dress was detailed with a ribbon bow at the waist, a colorful flower at the chest, buttons, and tulle going around her chest. She added some sheer black tights, light pink earrings to add a little more color and black pumps.
Stella Maxwell really brought her best to the Cannes Film Festival just a few days ago brought to you by Atelier Versace. The gown seems to be inspired by 90s grunge with safety pins holding fabric together and the gray metallic colors and effects going on. As the gown flows toward the floor, the fabric gives a ripped effect so that the bottom half and the train seem to be shredded but with purpose. It is a good thing she wore this look at a nighttime premiere because it is a little too dark and moody for a daytime event.
Gigi Hadid brought a very classy look to the premiere of the historical film, Firebrand (Le Jeu De La Reine). She has once again changed up her hair and this time it is a platinum blonde long wavy style. And the biggest surprise with her hair? A side part, now that is something you don’t see often anymore. Between her hair and the soft glam makeup look by Patrick Ta, she looked like she could play Barbie. Her custom-made Jean Paul Gaultier nude fishtail gown made her look like a dream. The nude color pairs great with her skin tone and doesn’t wash her out but enhances her features instead.
For the premiere of the film “Monster,” Gemma Chan wore a custom white Louis Vuitton gown. The halter neckline and long gown gave the perfect proportions to ensure she looks her absolute best. The white gown with panels of glittering fabric was eye-catching on the red carpet and you couldn’t miss her. Her accessories included diamond earrings, a bracelet, and a ring. Looking at her bangs and polished updo, she looked like Audrey Hepburn, who adorned that style many times.
True movie star glamor was present at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
