The first night of the grand opening was filled with a performance of The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation to a 2000 audience. This theatre performance was planned for the first night of celebrations because the NMACC is all about the arts in every form such as theatre, fine arts, and music.

There was also the red carpet, of course, where we saw so many Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities in contemporary traditional Indian wear. Custom made looks that sparkled as guests walked the carpet. Some of the looks even took a year to make, including the incredible sari by Abu Jani and Sandeep demonstrating the incredible workmanship of its team.

On night two of the NMACC celebrations the guests were given access to India in Fashion, an exhibition filled with traditional Indian textiles, fabrics, styles, and how Indian fashion has affected the rest of the world. The editor-in-chief of The World of Interiors, Hamish Bowles, was the curator for this alongside two designers, Patrick Kinmonth with Rooshad Shroff. Kinmonth said, “I spent two-and-half-years curating this show with Hamish.”

Lastly, there was a formal gala dinner with traditional Indian food for everyone. This allowed everyone to be fully immersed in Indian culture and learn more about it. During the night, there was drumming that introduced Indian actor, Shah Rukh Khan. He took the stage and was later joined by Gigi Hadid, Priyanka Chopra, and Ranveer Singh, another Indian actor.

Here are just a few of the best looks from the celebrations:

Zendaya’s gown was a hand-embroidered sari gown by designer Rahul Mishra. The dress is made to look like a starry night sky with a deep blue base color and silver stars. In 2020, Zendaya was actually one of the first celebrities to walk the runway dressed in Rahul Mishra. They are focused on sustainability and the craftsmanship of their work, which you can tell by the intricate small details on their garments.

Law Roach, who walked along sides Zendaya across the red carpet, was dressed in Rahul Mishra. His look contained gorgeous floral embroidery on a sherwani jacket and a matching black lehenga skirt. The bright floral embroidery is remarkable, as it is hand embroidered, and it makes him stand out amongst the others.

Gigi’s look is a beautiful cream and white ensemble that definitely made her shine. Indian designers, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla are the ones behind this look that no one can look away from. The designers chose Kama Sutra, an ancient Indian book, as the inspiration for the entire look.

Penélope Cruz wore a floor length pink gown with a high slit showing off her metallic silver shoes. Her dress is lined with feathers across her chest and down the rest of the gown. The designer, Tamara Ralph, was one half of the Ralph & Russo fashion label, but she started her own brand in 2022 and has had great success since.

The former Bollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra, arrived at the event with her husband, Nick Jonas. On night one of the events, she wore an Elie Saab couture gown that was adorned with sparkles. For the grand opening of the NMACC, she worked with Ami Patel, a stylist, and Amit Aggarwal, a designer to put together this up-cycled vintage look. She absolutely loved the look and said that it is an “amalgamation of the east and west” which she said is something that she can relate to.

Indian actress, Kriti Sanon, wore a stunning gown that crossed over her chest to give an interesting neckline. The dress is covered in gold details that pop from the black background, which is all thanks to Monisha Jaising. Jaising is the designer of the dress and she chose a specific Indian design that is used for a special occasion for women.
