The Stylist Behind Emma Chamberlain’s Sultriest Looks
Ava Van Osdol is mysterious. She is a successful stylist, recently having styled Emma Chamberlain for the cover of CR Fashion Book. But there is little information about who she is. There is her website, an extensive visual portfolio of her work, a link to her email, but no about page. There is her Instagram, full of technicolor glam photos and snippets of her life. There is her LinkedIn, her Depop page, a photo of her at the launch of the Miu Miu Nuit collection on Nylon Mag, a profile on Models.com.
Maybe she is just a typical Gen Z woman, maintaining privacy and an air of mystery by sharing her life on social media in little snippets of interesting moments with little explanation instead of maintaining a well curated feed.
Her work, after all, speaks for itself. Under her styling, Emma Chamberlain becomes a gothic river nymph dressed in Miu Miu and Cartier, a darkly feminine, leather clad S&M princess, a sultry plastic doll, and a sad, manic pixie schoolgirl to name a few.
Van Osdol’s style exudes Gen Z; she captures movement, creating looks that exist within a moment and not just on their own. She got her start as an intern at CR Fashion Book. Now, just four years later, she did the styling for a cover shoot for the same magazine. She has been a styling assistant with brands like Miu Miu. She has also done styling for Zara, Re-Edition Magazine, and Cero Magazine.
