This season, many fashion designers created their collections from various forms of inspiration and created many new trends for fall and winter of this year. They have been able to take more risks with their collections and try different or unique styles that have not been seen before or considered. Designers played with silhouettes, drapes, color and cuts to create artistic ready to wear that is original but also timeless. Many trends have come out of Paris from these shows and with Paris Fashion Week coming to an end, it is only right to recap the future fashion trends straight from the ready to wear runways.

Oversized and/or Long Outerwear

Fall and winter fashion would not be complete without outerwear. Many designers opted to go for more masculine and oversized silhouettes that make coats more of a statement that pop against an outfit. In addition to this new silhouette, designers also opted for a lot of fur and shearling not only for warmth, but also for style. They often pulled from various fur patterns to create more unique looking furs (for example, Stella McCartney’s fur coats mocking horse coat patterns). This was seen with many designers such as Stella McCartney, Nanushka and Alyx

Drapey Silk Dresses and Skirts

Drapey silk dresses have completely taken over the fall/winter runways, which is interesting because it is typically more of a spring/summer style. However, designers have been able to create a warmer version of it that people can wear through multiple seasons. This trend was seen in shows such as Hermès and Acne Studios.

Wide Statement Shoulders

Statement shoulders have officially come back to fashion with many designers putting wider shoulders on their suits and outerwear. In the past, emphasized shoulders have been used within the feminist movement in the 1980s to mimic more masculine garments such as suits and was used for power dressing in the workforce. This trend pulls from the padded shoulder trend of last year as a way to add volume to the shoulders and add a unique silhouette to a garment. This trend was seen in shows such as Balenciaga, Givenchy and Courrèges.

Many designers sent their models down the runway in head to toe monochromatic outfits. Monochromatic outfits have been a timeless trend in women's fashion in recent years and does not seem to be going away anytime soon. Many designers put their own spin of the trend by adding patterns of the same color. This trend was seen in shows such as Versace and Hermès
