After Three Years, LaPointe Returns to New York Fashion Week

LaPointe is a brand that is beloved by many in the fashion world including celebrities such as Zendaya, Hailey Bieber and even United States first lady Jill Biden.

In 2020, LaPointe designer, Sally LaPointe, decided to make some changes to the brand and do a complete rebrand. The brand has changed its name and launched an e-commerce site that uses a straight to consumer model that allows customers to shop their new collections when they come out. The website organizes the garments by color instead of what they are, something that is not often seen in the industry. Since 2020, LaPointe hasn’t created a formal collection but has returned with a stunning fall Ready-to-Wear collection for New York Fashion Week.

Instead of taking the runway approach, LaPointe decided to do a photoshoot of the collection.

LaPointe is known for their head-to-toe bold monochromatic looks. She designs her collections with color in mind, with her garments using different shades of color from bright blues to bold neon yellows. She designs clean and versatile tailored pieces that can be dressed in various ways. For this fall collection, she uses the classic design choices that her brand is known for and more. She took the classic garments from her previous collections and revamped them for this collection. She added accents such as fringe, feathers, sequins and other details onto garments to make them look more detailed. In true LaPointe fashion, she also was not afraid of color. She reached for statement and bright colors for her garments along with various textures.   

When talking to WWD about her new collection, LaPointe said, “During my training, a great art teacher challenged me to identify in every [painting] piece I created where I’ve been and where I am going. This is something I still carry with me today. I dug into our archive to take out classic pieces that I wanted to move forward. This feels very new and luxe, which I love, while having a balance of, ‘where I’ve been and where I’m going. From the archive, it was a pick-and-choose [of various past collections].”

This collection has looks that are perfect for any fall look. It takes the original design elements and garments that LaPointe is known for but with new twists to keep consumer attention. This is a classic fall collection that masters monochromatic color and tailoring together so well. It looks like a fall collection but some looks can be worn in the summer or spring too.

Now that LaPointe has rebranded, they are trying to reach new younger consumers with their new collection and straight to consumer e - commerce site and this collection will definitely achieve that.
