Best Street Style from the Four Fashion Capitals of the World
As fashion month approached an end, outside of the runway, fashion is paraded around the streets of all major capitals - New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Each city has their own style to give, influencers, celebrities, and people of everyday life can be seen strutting their own looks. Here are the major takeaways from fashion month.
NYFW might be the only street style group willing to brave the cold for a good look. Long leather coats, trenches, and wrap skirts fill the streets along with exposed ankles, low-cut necklines, and miniskirts to boot. Khaki colored pieces, such as pleated trousers and a classic spring trench, were seen all throughout NYC, and some of our favorite pieces include Prada bucket hat in cream and the MM6 Maison Margiela two-tone trench coat.
The best dressed guests captured in the second stop of fashion month, London, have shown us the possibilities of layering. Reworked classic Brit items with closet staples have been some of the most iconic looks during LFW, including cardigans, leather jackets, trench coats, and frilly skirts over pants. Brightly colored sweaters around long trenches have been the new belt, and give a fresh new way to layer. Biker jackets over frilly, tulle skirts are opposing styles that balance each other out, and some of our favorite jackets include Net-A-Porter Leather jacket or the Saint Laurent cropped leather jacket. Layers of jackets have been seen on the streets, with an assortment of rain jackets and trenches. Transitional dressing allows for creative styling, and the dress/skirt over pants look is in, with flowy, neutral skirts over trousers or pants.
This season in Milan, street style stars show off their most fashionable looks while staying classy and put together. Milan street style is always a bit more formal and usually focuses on tailored pieces and classic combinations. While Milan doesn’t completely ignore global trends, pops of color, textured denim, and statement footwear were paraded throughout the streets. Inspiration is taken from the shows themselves, such as Prada and Bottega Veneta. Classic pieces, such as baggy leather pants and black chelsea boots are matched with oversized trench coats, fitted blazers, and leather gloves. Knitted sweaters, oversized sunglasses, and scarves are paired with shopping bags of our favorite brands, which are seen as the “it style” accessory. Miu Miu, a subsidiary of Prada, introduced the world to the vibe-shifting mini skirt set. Since its runway debut, the skimpy set has been cast in several social media moments. Their influence during the Milan shows have been incredible, with sweaters and tops being matched with printed pants and mini skirts.
With fashion month coming to a close, Paris ends it off with a bang, with off-the-runway looks and moments of creativity for all types of styles. Fashion month saved the best for last, with classic French girl style accessories, silk scarves, skirt suit, and handkerchief tied to purses, pants, and coats. The “French girl formula”, including cashmere sweaters, printed silk scarves, classic blue denim, and a black bag has been the staple. Throw on a long trench coat and pair it off with stilettos or a classic sneaker. Pops of color have been included on top of slouchy trousers and platform loafers. After weeks of brightly colored looks and trendy leather, Paris tones it down with earthy hues and timeless looks. High socks over loafers, our favorites being Fendi Force logo print, are styled with mini skirts and quilted bags, such as Chanel and Saint Laurent. Miu Miu, a subsidiary of Prada, introduced the world to the vibe-shifting mini skirt set. Since its runway debut, the skimpy set has been cast in several social media moments. Their influence during the Milan shows have escalated to the Paris shows, with sweaters and tops being matched with printed pants and mini skirts.
While we may not be able to book a trip to these four fashion capitals of the world, you can at least dress for one and use inspiration from our favorite looks. Each city presented their own style, with unique and timeless trends and pieces.
