BL8K Talks On-Air with Mosha Lundström Halbert - The Viral Fashion Connoisseur

Fashion news is back—and this time, it’s “live on-air,” or at least that’s how it feels when it’s all happening on your phone. The second TikTok connects, you know you’re about to get your daily dose of exclusive industry insights, straight from one of fashion’s most notable editors. With its distinct and recognizable tone that instantly brightens the mood, the segment opens with the intro every fashion enthusiast knows by memory. In Mosha’s unmistakable Nordic accent, ‘NEWSFASH’ sets the tone, and one of the few times when you stop and truly pay attention to your phone without any distractions takes place.

As the founder of NEWSFASH, a space dedicated to fashion insight and education, Mosha Lunström Halbert has challenged the way fashion is discussed and understood. Her engaging content has captivated industry icons like Law Roach and Julia Fox, blending her vast expertise with authenticity to create a community built in trust and a shared insatiability for knowledge. Reaching new audiences using fashion and culture as a catalyst for thoughtful conversations, and sharing the same desire for story telling.

Talking to Mosha was nothing short of an honor; after all, what could be cooler than connecting with the very same person that keeps your obsession for fashion alive and endlessly enticing? Well, perhaps one thing—a new season of NEWSFASH: The Podcast (and good news, we’ve got some spoilers ahead!).

Inspiration and Identity: What pivotal moment sparked your desire to create the NEWSFASH podcast, and how does it reflect your identity in fashion?

A feeling of nostalgia for the days of proper video fashion reporting that I grew up with in the ‘90s. I was swimming laps during Labor Day weekend and thinking about how fashion month was beginning soon and the whole name, concept, and tone materialized as a vision in the water. Perhaps that symbolizes how when you are in a flow state, you create your best work. I wanted to merge an old format with a new media and audience hungry for fashion intel from a trusted source.

Defining Challenges: What significant challenges have you faced in the fashion industry, and how have they shaped your creativity and leadership?

Navigating corporate structures and the changing media landscape are what ultimately unlocked the entrepreneur within me to bring a new level of experience, journalism, gravitas, education, conversation, and hopefully entrainment to the space through short-form video and long form audio formats. It seemed odd to me that legacy media brands were not fully harnessing the power of TikTok and podcasting, so I jumped into your deep end myself.

Creative Process: Can you share your creative process for projects with your brands (such as NEWSFASH & Therma Kōta), and contributions to Vogue? What do you consider to inspire your best ideas?

I do not get my best ideas sat at a desk. Being out in the world, moving, exercising, exploring, and pushing myself physically seems to be key to my creative process. I need endorphins and a sense of urgency in order to ideate and execute. This could apply to a new coat style for Therma Kōta, a topic for NEWSFASH, or a story idea for Vogue.

Impact on Collaboration: What collaboration has profoundly influenced your work, and what insights did you gain from it?

Working with my mother and sister on Therma Kōta is deeply fulfilling and inspiring. We keep each other honest and accountable the way only family can. It’s all rooted in tradition, love, and integrity, which is the ideal energy you want to channel in your work, I find.

Future Vision: As the fashion industry evolves, how do you envision its future, and what role do you see yourself playing in that change?

I see individuals going toe-to-toe with brands when it comes to influence, impact, and community.

Future Projects: What can we look forward to from you in the near future?

A new season of NEWSFASH The Podcast coupled with a live Q&A series on TikTok. Stay tuned!
