Brandon Blackwood on Tour

It’s been a busy month for Brandon Blackwood, a New York contemporary fashion brand as they design dress stars for the biggest concerts of the year. The Black-owned fashion line is well known for its luxury yet accessible handbags.

Brandon Blackwood, the brand, and the designers' reach go far beyond purses; their designs are making it around the world on two of the biggest concert tours of the year, Beyonce’s Renaissance world tour and Taylor Swift's Eras world tour.

Beyonce hit the stage on May 10th in the first show of her 57 show tour wearing a head-to-toe custom-made Brandon Blackwood ensemble. Queen B looked ethereal, dawned in an icy blue satin gown with a high slit and train, paired with matching gloves and heels. The look is one of elegance, and left fans dazzled, standing apart from the others in her show’s wardrobe, many of which are her classic bodysuit style.

Brandon Blackwood launched just eight years ago in 2015 but began to gain more notoriety in 2020 following features in several magazines like Elle and Galore. Black Owned designer brands are few and far between, making Brandon Blackwood's presence in the industry a very important one, paving the way for more young black designers to have the opportunity to dress the world's biggest stars. To be featured in Beyonce’s wardrobe for her tour is no small feat, in an Instagram post commemorating the design.

Brandon Blackwood said,

“Y'all have been shopping!!! Sooo many styles are selling out. Thank you to all the new customers and original cousins! If you wear a piece to the tour make sure to tag us.”

Beyonce’s choices do not go unnoticed, and in deciding to open her tour in Brandon Blackwood’s designs, she has opened more doors for the brand and gained more exposure for them.

Beyonce's impact is unmistakable, but newcomers tend to grab attention as well. Ice Spice joined Taylor Swift at a New York show of her Era’s tour to perform Taylor hit Karma. The remix featuring Ice Spice came out on March 26th, a collaboration very few people could have anticipated. Ice Spice styled her look with Brandon Blackwood’s Blair Thigh High boots, a slouchy high-heeled leather boot that complimented her Dion Lee black, metallic, and lace ensemble.

Ice Spice has risen to fame quickly with hit songs that have gone viral on Tiktok, even scoring herself a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and befriending the Kardashians. She has spotted styles in Brandon Blackwood on many occasions and serves as yet another ambassador for the brand, bringing in a bigger customer base and boosting Brandon Blackwood’s recognition.

Runways and magazines are one way to put the spotlight on a brand, but shoppers will spend to attain something loved by a celebrity they admire. Fashion from all angles, has always been a white-dominant industry. Bringing black-owned designers to the spotlight, and allowing them to showcase their vision, is essential to make the industry where all voices matter.
