Chanel’s Resort 2024 Runway Show Was Full Of Surprises

Chanel’s Resort 2024 collection takes you back in time to the Golden Age of Old Hollywood. Between the stage, the attendees, the showings on the tv screen, and the garments themselves, there is a mix of Old Hollywood, classic Chanel, and modern party girl.

In 1931 Coco Chanel went to Hollywood to work with Samuel Goldwyn, one of the film producers in Old Hollywood, for United Artists Studio. She helped create costumes for all the movies he was producing. This led to the Chanel team picking Paramount Studios’ Planet Hollywood as the space for the runway show.

However, there was some conflict with choosing Paramount Studios as the space. The writers are currently on strike and even though the show was after regular operating hours, there were still people on strike preaching to the guests as they walked in. Bruno Pavlovsky, the president of fashion and the president of Chanel SAS said “We’re just working with Paramount to use the Space” and they had chosen the location months ago.

The guests walking into the studios made it seem like a combination of Old Hollywood and New Hollywood. Some of the attendees included Margot Robbie, Elle Fanning, Kristen Stewart, and Lily Collins. After the show, there was also a performance by Snoop Dogg, which had everyone intrigued.

Now onto the show, all 71 looks were ranging from era to era. There were some pieces that looked straight out of the 60s while others seemed like a going-out look in the 2010s. Tweed pink suits mixed together Coco Chanel with the upcoming Barbie movie that is set to release later this summer. On the other hand, leg warmers and spandex form fighting pieces made it seem like the models were about to teach an aerobics class.

With mini dresses and pastel ombre patterns, there was a bit of the 2010s party girl. Additionally, some paisley-like patterns and loose flowy skirts gave a bohemian mood that contrasts much of what was presented during the show. Amidst the different styles and moods in the show, the audience didn’t know what was coming next.

Behind the models on the runway was a big tv screen showing a classic Los Angeles environment. There were skylines, palm trees, and Chanel ambassador Alma Jodorowsky flashing across the screen.

This show was definitely an interesting one and there were so many aspects to it that had the guests on the edge of their feet.
