Coperni Delivered the Most Iconic Presentation of the Season
All heads turned as Gen-Z’s ultimate supermodel icon, Bella Hadd, stepped onto Coperni’s runway in nothing but a nude thong and consequently had a silver dress sprayed-on, yes you read that right, a dress was sprayed onto her body!
Coperni literally shook Paris during its ss23 collection debut with a finale that will be remembered forever. A scientific display delivered by the brains behind Fabrican Ltd, the creators behind the ground-breaking liquid suspension that when applied via a spray gun and is let to dry takes physical form.
Doctor Manel Torres is the leader of Fabrican Ltd and the artist behind the creation of Coperni’s finale look. A dress made exactly to measure, Bella’s curves were accentuated and immortalized forever.
The silver sprayed-on dress certainly caught the attention of everybody, the video of the breathtaking performance flooded every news site, there was no escaping it.
Coperni, led by design duo Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer, are the brains behind the sprayed-on dress which will surely be remembered forever.
Obviously the haters didn’t miss the chance to come out and critique Coperni and Fabrican Ltd’s sprayed jersey-like fabric. Many stated that the moment wasn’t new or innovative, as this technology has been around for a while, which is true, but it certainly hadn’t been presented this way.
An experimental approach to how modern day designers utilize and incorporate technology. Also heavily compared to McQueen’s 90’s show, for those who live under a rock or somehow forgot about fashion’s most iconic moment, supermodel Shalom Harlow spun on a wooden turntable as two spray-painting robots covered her white dress. A moment that is immortalized in fashion history, definitely creating a before and after.
Two different events with different technology, both delivering jaw dropping moments that show the immense potential technologies and fashions fusion have.
The dress was perfect and moved flawlessly as it hung off Hadid’s body, it looked like a second skin.
This season we have seen multiple approaches from designers all around as they attempt to create through more conscious practices. Coperni’s display was purely exhibitional but the technology they presented to the world is one that is planned to be used in the medical industry as well. Imagine having a cast or bandage sprayed on, super cool!
Showing us how fashion and technology coexist in this new era.
