Current Fashion Trends Worth Including Into Your Wardrobe
You know what they say, what goes around comes back around. The current trends we may not have worn months ago, everyone is wearing now.
Big bags
The emergence of Spring/ Summer 2022 collections have sparked the trend of big bags coming back in style. I mean, what more could you ask for- to fit your entire life like Mary Poppins into one bag? Models were photographed wearing Bottega Veneta’s gigantic bags. This shift from tiny bags to bigger bags is something we did not expect to see this year, but we are here for it.
Cutouts
For a while, cutouts were neglected, but they are making a strong comeback. A lot of designers have presented cutouts on the runway this year. Julia Fox opened Laquan Smith’s show at NYFW wearing a long, form-fitted black cutout dress and made every headline. Other brands like Prada, Fendi, Jacquemus, Dion Lee, Versace and Chloe are creating their own versions of cutout pieces. The list can go on forever, but that goes to show, they are making their way back into the fashion world.
Sequins
Sequins have never really gone out of style. They have been seen in some fashions throughout the years when they were less popular, but we can thank the Roaring Twenties for bringing them into our lives. The iridescent reflection from the plastic-like discs make any outfit more appealing. Dior and Margiela are common players in the game of sequins. They have sewn on beautiful sequins to many tops, dresses, pants, you name it. The glamor of sequins continues to live on.
Tulle
A lot of brands have been using tulle to create a more elaborate look. The sheerness of the fabric provides a layering option giving the outfit more depth. It is such a playful fabric and comes in many different colors. It is designed either with just one piece of fabric or multiple, staggered on top of one another to create a flared look. Molly Goddard, Schiaparelli, Giambattista Valli, Dior, and Margiela have been a few of the many designers that have achieved iconic looks with their use of tulle. It definitely creates a fun, chic atmosphere.
Y2K
From Destiny’s Child with the low rise jeans to Paris Hilton in the Juicy Couture sweatsuits, how can we ever forget the Y2K era? Everyone is sporting the Y2K trends of fur-trimmed cardigans, baby tees paired with low rise denim jeans, over the shoulder purses, butterflies, and bedazzled everything. Fashion stores like Zara and Princess Polly have been selling all of the above. Roberto Cavalli will also always be there for us when in need of quality low rise denim jeans. Depop is also another shop to purchase sustainable, passed down vintage if you are looking for any of the styles.
