Digital Lavender’s Handbag Takeover
What color do you think of when you picture 2023? It’s the year of purple with digital lavender making center stage, as predicted by WGSN and Pantone. Digital lavender is a soft shade of lilac, meant to evoke feelings of calmness. The difference between it and traditional lavender is an added gray hue, which creates a cooler and softer shade.
Digital lavender was first announced back in 2021, giving it a head start to be everywhere by 2023. And it has indeed been seen everywhere, from home interiors to the iPhone 14, but lavender is making a peak in fashion, seen everywhere, but one place it has been especially relevant is in women’s accessories. Handbags in shades of lavender have been present at every price point.
Italian fashion brand, Bottega Veneta, well known for their luxurious leather handbags carries classic styles like their Padded Cassette and Candy Jodie in Lavender. The color even extends into their shoe offerings with 7 styles in shades of lavender. The bags and shoes alike can be found paired throughout the Pre-Fall 2023 collection lookbook.
Coach has hopped on the lavender train with over 15 handbag styles coming in the hue, including their signature Tabby shoulder bag and their studio baguette bag. Their Tabby bag, which has gained alot of popularity online through Tiktok, is highly sought out. Styled with monochromatic lavender looks, it’s the perfect splash of purple to pull together any look.
Jaquemes, famously known for their itty bitty handbags carried 6 of their signature styles in lavender, including Le Chiquito, a bag that couldn’t even hold your phone. The brand is known for its solid color bags but makes an exception for this year’s signature shade. The brand has a love for the color and the flower, hosting its S/S 2020 show at a lavender field in Province, France.
2023’s not over yet, and we’ll continue to see lavender present in fashion and beyond.
