Dive Into Elizaveta Porodina’s Visually Stimulating Universe
Meet photographer extraordinaire Elizaveta Porodina.
A truly mesmerizing visual experience is created once Porodina gets behind her lense. What she does is so unique, enigmatic, captivating, seductive and at times uncomfortable (in the best way possible).
Porodina is a master at merging art and fashion through experimental and unorthodox editing. As a psychology graduate she uses symbolism and confronts beauty standards, using photography and art to communicate the many ways in which the human body and mind can be imagined.
Her work allows viewers to transport to a parallel universe that is at times uncomfortable but completely alluring. Her work unmasks the limitations of beauty through non-verbal expressions.
All her works are a photographic reminiscence on surrealist themes with a dark edge. Porodina has expressed that she likes to show heroines to show force. Show every layer and unmask her subjects, unearth the strange, the dark and the weird.
“Speak to the viewer directly about their fears, about their dreams.”
This July Porodina shot “Euphoria” star, Zendaya, for the cover of Vogue Italia. The super talented actress looks flawless in everything she wears but especially stunning in the plunging-neck silver gown she wore for the cover.
Elizaveta brought her signature colors and fantasy to the photos but unlike some of her other works she didn’t distort Zendaya, instead capturing her powerful poses (we all know Zendaya now’s how to Shake It Up).
Keeping the Euphoria theme alive, Porodina’s shots are exactly that. An exaggeration of synthesized beauty that shines through an obvious feeling of sadness and despair. Represented by analogies of color, bedazzled everything and a maximalist take on fashion themes.
Porodina captures the essence of teenage despair, the what-nots of discovering oneself through the exploration of sexuality, emotions, scandals and innocence.
Elizaveta’s work is a literal dream, the reflections on Zendaya skin, the pink tears, halos and color blocking mixed with Zendaya captivating gaze and ethereal moves make this one of the best shots of the year.
