Fresh Faces of the SS23 Menswear
As the influence of social media is impacting the way the fashion and modeling industry is perceived, more and more models are getting scouted through social platforms by different agencies. These models are using social media to ascend themselves into the modeling industry and they are no exception to their unique look as they made their way to campaigns and runway shows.
Calum Harper, an English native, got his modeling start through TikTok, where he would post his daily vlogs, outfits, get ready with him, etc. His breakthrough came when he was discovered by Fashion Model Management in Milan and Marilyn Agency in New York made his breakthrough this season with the Gucci SS23 Mens Show. What started his passion and love for modeling and fashion was High School Musical that inspired him to reach his dreams. His niche is advocating for gingers who have been normally portrayed in a negative light. He uses his platform to counteract the discrimination and uses his features to his advantage. With over 800 thousand TikTok followers, social media has been an outlet for Calum and has opened up special opportunities, such as living in Tokyo for modeling. This season alone has already been a success, with working shows for MSGM, Shanghai Tang, and Zegna.
Another English, born and raised, social media personality and TikTok content creator Kit Price has also launched his career by walking several shows this season. Represented by Chaos Talent Management and Wilhelmina in the UK, Kit has been a social media sensation, which helped grow his career tremendously. With half a million TikTok followers, growing up, he never saw himself as a model and didn’t have the physique for it. Hard work and dedication allowed him to improve his composition and his profession. His work for recognizable brands has rocketed him to runways, and this season is no exception. Dolce & Gabbana, K-Way, LGN, and Junya Watanabe are a few of the successful shows he has walked in, and this is just the beginning.
Belgian and Italian model Aloïs Cotti, a physics student, debuted SS23 at DSquared2. Modeling is something he never thought of, so when he was approached at a music festival, there was a bit of apprehensiveness. He decided to contact them and see what it was all about and his life has changed since. His first show ever was DSquared in Milan in 2022. Wearing layers on layers and oversized sunglasses, this was a surreal moment for him and his family, who watched the show back home. His focus shifts to his studies and nature outside of social media and modeling. Aloïs has an outstanding portfolio, with shows and projects for Maison Mihara Yasuhiro for SS23, Vivienne Westwood, Valentino, Etro, and Balmain.
