Ganni Spring Summer 2024
Ganni debuted their Spring/Summer 2024 collection by Creative Director Ditte Reffstrup on August 10th during Copenhagen Fashion Week. The Danish fashion brand, known for its affordable luxury style and playful style, had a runway show that was one with nature, with trees indoors, bringing a pop of nature's green to the otherwise neutral white and gray interior.
In an Instagram post about the show, Ganni shares that 5 trees present in the venue were placed to spark conversation.
“These trees are here to spark conversation about how we connect the digital and physical worlds through fashion and AI technology and to encourage you to switch off from tech.”
The chosen trees are native to Denmark and have received the names of some of Ganni’s muses, Jakie, Mina, Ana, Richie, and Susie.
Neutrals, as well as a variety of shades of blue and purple, were found throughout the collection. My favorite of the collection was an all cream monochromatic look. A fitted midi knit cream dress embellished with clear sequins and trimmed with coordinating crotchet was styled with a coordinating, off-the-shoulder full-length knit cardigan. The look featured large accenting Ganni logo buttons, closing the top of the dress and cardigan, and was styled with slouchy cream booties. This light look has the essence of spring and flowed elegantly down the runway
Model Paloma Elsesser walked the show in a full maroon look modeled, made of a sheer flowy material featuring a fitted low-cut top and attached drapey hood. A coordinating wrap skirt cinches off to the side overlaid with a pair of flowy maroon pants. Their collaboration with the plus size supermodel is part of their goal of designing size-inclusive products.
Ganni’s collaboration with the active brand New Balance also made an appearance on their runway. They are seen once with a full purple look, featuring a light purple chrome midi dress overlaid with a grape purple knit dress with long flapping tassels at the end. The Ganni X New Balance 1906 R in black and white with yellow details serve as an accent to this look, paired with white tights featuring the Ganni logo. The yellow pair from the brand's collaboration is also seen on the runway with a contrasting look.
Ganni announced that they utilized AI in the creation of prints for this collection. Working along with AI artist Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrom they designed garment graphics with the use of artificial intelligence. The use of AI is becoming a more relevant tool in the Fashion industry, and Ganni is staying ahead of the innovation, by utilizing it in the designing of this latest collection.
Not only is Ganni high fashion but they are also dedicated to environmentalism. Their SS 2024 collection styles are made of 100% organic, recycled, or lower-impact materials. Leather pieces in the collection are made of Oletex, a faux leather made from olive oil production by-products. They have also utilized plastic-free sequins in the collection.
In terms of innovation, Ganni is setting the pace for fashion brands of the future, while simultaneously creating fashion-forward and free-spirited looks perfect for the upcoming 2024 spring and summer.
