Herve Leger’s Spring 2023 Collection
Herve Leger’s Spring 2023 collection is a contemporary take on an infamous classic. Using features of their iconic items, such as their bandage dress, the label has curated a collection of interesting, pleasing-to-look at pieces.
The collection is made up of dresses, one pieces, and sets of pants or skirts with tops, all of which fall somewhere on the spectrum of classic Herve Leger materials. The color choices, though stunning in shade, seem dated by just a couple years, full of soft muted tones among a world of bright colors.
The collection plays with cutouts in a way that stylistically lines up with the brand’s aesthetic from their iconic 90s reign, though pieces look less restricting and more modernized due to these cutouts. There are bandage elements, as well as many pieces made with ribbed fabric that mimics the bandage dress style in a less restricting way.
While many of the pieces adhere to the brand’s legacy of tight fitting clothing, there are instances of puffed sleeves, bootcut pants and long pieces of fringe that break up this tightness. Some of the most interesting elements of this collection are, in fact, the puffed up sleeves or, alternately, long opera gloves and slouchy arm warmers.
By adding a touch of the ephemeral to a previously more contained style, Herve Leger introduces a collection appropriate to 2023, while still maintaining a 90s sensibility.
