Rihanna’s Family is Picture Perfect for British Vogue

Rihana’s big return to music came with a bang. Maybe not the musical bang everyone prayed for but we did get the family portrait of the decade. When your parents are Rihanna and A$AP Rocky of course your first photo shoot will be for editorial supreme, British Vogue.

After years of silence, musical, that is, Rihanna made her big return to the stage at this year's Super Bowl halftime show where she surprised us all with the most adorable baby bump, announcing her second pregnancy. Her performance and baby news broke the internet and today's British Vogue cover reveal will certainly have the same effect.

Anything Rihanna related is set to make a commotion, now imagine having Rihanna, A$AP and their baby son walking holding hands next to the ocean. A beautiful shot captured by superstar duo Inez & Vinoodh and styled by British Vogue editor, Edward Enninful. The soon-to-be mama of two sat down with Giles Hattersley and discussed all things motherhood, Super Bowl and life after giving birth.

Giles met Rihanna one early morning, 3 am to be precise, in the midst of Rihanna's Super Bowl rehearsals. They met at a luxurious building where the singer showed up wearing an oversized Stüssy hoodie, hiding any sign of a baby bump, and some leftover diamonds from last night's Golden Globes. Definition of life as a rockstar entrepreneur.

Rihanna, who at the time had no idea she was actually shooting a family portrait of 4, talked about motherhood. How life as a new mom changes everything, very desire, all the things she once enjoyed completely change. Nothing matters anymore but her son. Pregnancy no matter who you are is the same to all; scary and there is no manual as to how to do it.

Her baby can even be the sole reason we got Rihanna to lead the Super Bowl halftime show; “raising a young Black man is one of the scariest responsibilities in life.” It’s made her re-evaluate everything. “You’re like, ‘What am I leaving my kids to? This is the planet they’re gonna be living on?’” She shakes her head. “All of those things really start to hit differently.”

Referencing how representation is vital, how doors need to be broken down and create a consistent level of said representation. We all know the Super Bowl has been begging Rihanna to perform for years and it definitely surprised some when Rihanna finally accepted.

So her return to the stage wasn’t accompanied by new music but she definitely, like always, brought style. Something we can’t wait to see more of as Rihanna has established herself as the queen of baby bump fashion. Style she referred to as “a piece of cake”. Rihanna looks beautiful in anything, literally there is nothing she can’t pull off. Edward Enninful knows this and curated beautiful outfits for the family Bitigh Vogue spread. In one shot she is wearing a yellow leather gown by Rick Owens with Savage x Fenty black underwear and Alaïa sandals. On another shot she wears a Valentino high-thigh slit, black gown then she is photographed holding her baby in Burberry lace gloves.

Perhaps the only thing mor leer fe the than the styling is Rihanna’s description of her relationship with A$AP; “we are best friends with a baby” a relationship that has only become stronger as its family grew and for those who are in desperate need of new Rihanna music will hate to hear this but Rihanna’s family will for sure keep growing.
