Is headwear Spring 2024’s must-have accessory? NYFW thinks so.

New York Fashion Week is in full swing, heading into its final few days before the transition over to London Fashion Week. Legendary brands like Proenza Schuler and Tory Burch debuted their Spring Summer 2024 collections in glorious fashion shows.

A spectacular runway look is never complete without a carefully curated lineup of accessories. One we’ve seen time and time again on the NYFW catwalk is none other than headwear, specifically, over-the-top, statement-making hats. These brands have some of the most stunning headpieces as part of their spring collection.

Adam Lippes

Luxury sportswear brand Adam Lippes decided to pack up NYC and bring it to Texas. The brand debuted its chic Spring/Summer 2024 collection in downtown Dallas’s Neiman Marcus flagship. The brand has made itself right at home in Texas, with a store expected to open next month. The collection featured prairie-like elements including printed linens and ruffled ribbed blouses. The hats and accessories in this collection were hard to miss. Woven, wide-brimmed hats in warped shapes were paired with various looks in shades of black, white, and tan. One look in particular featured a coordinating set made of a primarily pink plaid pattern. The strappy bandeau top was paired with a coordinating high waist pleated maxi skirt featuring buttons down the length of the skirt. The look was accessorized with strappy red sandals and an extra tall tan woven hat with a brim that covered half the model's face. An oversized hat has been a runway staple for the brand for the past few years. Similar hats were featured in the Spring 2023 collection and a more fisherman-like hat appeared in their Spring 2022 runway show.

Alejandra Alonso Rojas

Alejandra Alonso Rojas debuted their Spring/Summer 2024 collection this Monday, September 11th. The Madrid-born designer releases collections rich in feminine elegance season after season. Some of her collection looks were completed with the edition of a stylish beret in a black and mauve variation. One look, featuring a delicate baby pink crisscross satin top, relaxed in fit with an oversized bow and an even paler satin pink midi skirt, was paired with a dusty pink crochet beret. This headpiece featured white statement stitch stripes, as well as pearl appliques. This gorgeously pink monochromatic look has a vacation-like feel, while simultaneously being sharp and elegant. The brand last utilized hats in the styling of their collections back in their Spring 2020 presentation, and they are back for the brand in a more Parisian style.

Libertine

When it comes to a statement accessory, LA-based fashion brand Libertine has never hesitated to put out something unusual. Fanatics of the brand were in for a treat, with the brand hosting their first runway show since 2020. As part of their Spring 2024 Ready-To-Wear collection, the brand various hats, in eccentric prints that matched the look they were styled with identically. One textile in particular, a patchwork style pattern featuring photographs, sketches, and various mix-matched fabrics, is featured on one of these headpieces. The look features a funky trench coat with coordinating suit shorts in the print, a floppy-brimmed top hat resting below to mo and red and white retro sunglasses.

Other brands to present looks featuring a headwear accessory include Bevaza, which features white or black flat caps with many of their monochromatic looks. One look on Dion Lee’s  runway also sported a stylish denim monogrammed baseball cap. Eckhause Latta also dabbled in hats, styling looks with relaxed beige berets. Beyond hats, hoods, and even sheer veils have been common accessories on the NYFW catwalk. These brands and more are introducing a season of hats and headwear for 2024.
