Jenna Ortega, a Name You Should Remember
If you haven’t heard Jenna Ortega’s name before these last two weeks you for sure will know.
Wednesday has now broken Stranger Things season 4 record for most viewed in a week for an English language series. (341.2 million hours!) I know I’ve contributed to a few of those, especially the dance episode with Jenna Ortega’s now iconic self-choreographed scene. Wednesday’s immediate hit turned all eyes onto Jenna and quickly positioned her as the next talent to watch. I mean she gained 10 million followers on Instagram in just 10 days! Needless to say, that is not normal and speaks to the fans true love for her character.
Regardless of her current notoriety, Ortega has been working for a long time. The young half Puerto Rican actress has partaken roles in horror genre movie Insidious: Chapter 2, also had a Disney moment in the series Stuck in the Middle, played a young Jane Villanueva in Jane the Virgin, played Ellie in the other Netflix hit series You and starred in the movie Fallout. So Wednesday Addams isn’t her debut role but certainly one that will be remembered forever.
Ortega is truly magical when it comes to her performance, you can tell she is someone who is absolutely committed and gives it her all. Just watching her talk about how she prepares for the role and how she works around creating an emotional arc for her character feels like you are listening to a Hollywood veteran. She is just that talented and hard working. I already mentioned it but I’ll say it again; she choreographed a whole dance scene by herself! Maybe I just find that last fun fact impressive as I can’t dance to save myself. Still do yourself a favor and go watch Wednesday on Netflix.
Okay, so we’ve got a hit show, we’ve got a talented actress and we’ve got the fans which means we’ve got ourselves a new it-girl! Before diving in deeper I feel like we should just establish that an it-girl is someone who is not a role model but an inspiration for either her talent, her dedication, her ideas, her work. And I feel Jenna Ortega is someone admirable and if we add in her fashion style it just gets better.
Since Jenna was about 15 years old she has been working with stylist Enrique Melendez. A six year journey where we can see how Jenna grew from a teenager to a woman through her outfits. She has experimented with different silhouettes and we can see her slowly transitioning to a more mature and edgy style.
"It's important to nurture a style evolution of all my clients, especially the younger ones. With my ladies, I always want them to feel empowered. I strive to dress them tastefully, and I always want them to know that I 100 percent have their back," Melendez told POPSUGAR.
Definitely giving strong Wednesday vibes with her recent goth outfits which we are loving.
Going all black for Wednesday’s premiere in an all black satin and lace Versace bridal gown. A stunning sheer Saint Laurent mini dress paired with high waisted underpants and high platforms. Also another Saint Laurent moment with a stunning one glove sheer gown. Looking chic in a school uniform-inspired suit from Dolce & Gabbana and taking the prize for vest look is the Dion Lee naked lace dress.
She also gave us a major pop of color moment, in none other than Valentino’s signature pink hue, as she was Pier Paolo’s guest for the 2022 Met Gala. A few months later she proved Valentino could also be goth and Wednesday-like as she stepped onto the MTV Awards red carpet in a beautiful mini LBD from the Italian fashion house.
We can’t wait to see what Jenna Ortega will do next and obviously what she will wear.
