Joey King Goes Edgier and Punkier
The Kissing Booth alumni stepped into a new style era as she promoted her new movie Bullet Train. The perfect moment to debut a new more elevated, high fashion and edgier sense of style.
Posing along with her fashionable co-stars, King's style caught everyone’s eyes as she underwent a major sartorial change from youthful teen star to full-on fashion.
King kept things Matrix-like inspired as she rocked black leather gloves, revealing cut-outs, tight fitting dresses and harsh silhouettes. King has been hitting red carpets for her award winning roles in The Act and premiere for The Princess, but this time she caught everyone’s eyes for her unexpected style choices.
Fashion wasn’t the only outlet for King to shine, she debuted new hairstyles in almost every look. Her pink bob was definitely the most rock-punk do followed by eye-grazing sharp bangs and a Bella Hadid inspired slicked-back bun.
Have you heard about the celebrity gossip site Just Jared? Well, the founder is none other than King’s stylist. It surely comes as a surprise but King and Jared Eng have come together to bring this edgy looks.
"I never intended to be a stylist. I never wanted to enter the fashion business. There are tons of talented stylists already out there. But I've known Joey for six to seven years. And ever since she was a little girl, I just knew how talented she was." says Jared Eng
Eng, being surrounded by everything fashion industry related, has grown into educating himself and becoming more entrenched with the idea of styling.
Having helped King land the Best Dressed lists he proved his styling abilities by showing a new side to King’s fashion potential.
King delivered with her more avant-garde looks at her first international press tour. One she will never forget as she posed alongside icons like Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor Johnson who also delivered as Pitt’s skirt made headlines all over. Keeping things on theme, Eng wanted King’s assassin character to be reflected as they chose to avoid femenine and sparkly looks.
King started off in London wearing a backless baby blue Marc Jacob’s bodysuit and a floor-length wrap skirt finished with Paula Rowan black leather gloves and boots by Le Silla. This look was by far the most fashionable one, not only was the styling impecable (love it when they keep the gloves) but the hair and makeup made it that much more powerful.
During the day she kept things punk and short. Joey wore a tight Nensi Dojaka mini black dress with sharp cut-outs with black stockings and the famous e-girl Naked Wolfe platform boots. A look heavily inspired by the Y2K frenzy trend as Nensi Dojaka’s dresses have been worn by street style icon Bella Hadid who is a representative of this trend.
Keeping things a little more simple, goth and sexy, she wore the perfect leather combo that balanced her new style. One that embraces femininity but with a darker edge. She wore trousers and a jacket by Materiel with a cut-out bralette and her favorite Naked Wolfe boots.
King and Eng proved to be a power duo, one that delivers looks that are entertaining, fresh, contemporary and youthful. Here are more of King’s sleek press tour outfits where she stuns in Balenciaga, Thom Browne and Paco Rabanne.
