Wisdom Kaye - Best Dressed on Tik Tok Turned IMG Model
Dubbed as the best dressed guy on TikTok by Vogue Magazine, 21 year old Wisdom Kaye’s digital creative genius has changed men’s fashion conversation as we know it. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Wisdom has come to notoriety through his fresh and unique take on men’s fashion by challenging hyper masculinity. With a mass following of over 8 million followers, he has reached the eyes of fashion’s biggest houses through his agency, IMG, such as Dior, Zegna, Fendi, Prada, and Hugo Boss while working with BMW for Coachella, Sonic, Valentino, Gucci, and Ralph Lauren. Kaye’s approach to styling makes his account both informative and addicting.
Starting in January 2020, when he posted his first tiktok, he reached 5 million followers in 6 months. “At first, it was just a compilation of the outfits I was wearing the past couple of weeks,” he says. “I posted a couple on TikTok and Twitter, and they actually blew up on Twitter first. After a while, they racked up over a million views [on TikTok]. At that point I saw potential and started making more creative content on TikTok that went beyond just a standard outfit compilation.” (Vogue) His love for fashion started back in 2014 in his first year of high school. “I wanted to change my appearance to fit in. I used to get bullied a lot for my physical features, so I thought the best way to minimize this would be through conformity” (Vogue) As the years went by, he started experimenting, which led to his discovery of Hedi Slimane in 2018. Saint Laurent was the first form of inspiration for his complete fashion change and he implemented that in his style. After posting his first TikTok, his fame only grew. He started with ways to elevate a simple outfit, or doing a ‘at home’ version of men’s runway fashion, or recreating outfits based off of his favorite tv shows/movies. Within the past two years, he has been in ads with Coach, traveled to Paris with Ami, worked with Bank of America, Tiffany and Co, and Burberry. Styling some of the coolest pieces, he continues to not only make a digital impact on social media, but in menswear and fashion.
With TikTok being his biggest platform, that’s where he embodies his creativity with the self-made runway show, outfits inspired by tv/movie/animated characters, and designer looks. Being his own creative director, mode, stylist, and photographer, the pared-down responsibility adds a certain focus and gaze to him. His most recent projects have been attending the Prada Men’s Fall 2022 show in Milan and the Tiffany and Co event in NYC. Styled in a Prada nylon jumpsuit covered in a floral print with a Prada belt and black leather boots - all in 90 degree Milan heat and a modern take on a classic suit for the Tiffany and Co event. Some of his most favorite pieces include the CCP Tornado His ultimate goal is to be a creative hand behind the scenes in every industry, like being involved in costume design and styling wardrobes for certain characters.
