Kylie Jenner Transform into a Powerful Mermaid for JPG
Jean Paul Gaultier is stepping out in all mermaid-core with none other than Kylie Jenner as the face of their new campaign. This new ready-to-wear " Flowers " collection features Kylie Jenner and everything mermaid, aquatic, and fantasy.
This is not Jenner’s first time working with the French fashion house, she donned a striking red and light blue Jean Paul Gaultier gown and cape designed by Haider Ackermann to the Met Gala at the beginning of the month. After her sixth Met Gala Jenner dedicated a post to her stunning look on Instagram and captioned it with,
“HAIDER ACKERMANN FOR JEAN PAUL GAULTIER ❤️💎 thank you to the entire @jeanpaulgaultier team and @h.a ! i love you guyssss you make my fashion dreams come true.”
She also repped the brand at the famous Met Gala after-parties with a black and white corset dress with a silhouette you couldn’t forget. The black dress contained two high peaks at each of her shoulders with a small amount of white fabric peeking through in the chest area and it hugged her body beautifully.
The new “Flowers” campaign had a launch party for the Jean Paul Gaultier and The Webster collaboration on May 2nd, Jenner was dressed in a floral nude mesh dress. Her long sleeve maxi dress was paired with a pair of strappy pumps and a red clutch as she walked out of the Manhattan location of the Ritz-Carlton. Jenner’s five-year-old, Stormi, walked alongside her and sported a look with a similar print to Jenner’s dress.
This entire collection is paying tribute to Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection from the 2000s. Between the snug silhouettes of the dresses and corsets, the sheer and mesh tops that reveal the wearer’s skin, and swimwear that shows everything but what needs to be covered, the collection is definitely paying homage to the 2000s.
The creative director of Jean Paul Gaultier, Florence Tétier, has created an enchanting ready-to-wear line, but the campaign photoshoot is out of this world. Set designer, Afra Zamara, outdid herself and included everything mystical that pulls you in. Jenner truly looks like a mermaid which was the goal according to Tétier,
“For this collection, working with Kylie Jenner was an obvious choice. Her personality and notoriety make her a true source of inspiration. She ideally matches the representation of a modern mermaid that I was looking for; a powerful being capable of adapting to their environment.”
After seeing all the photos taken by Elizaveta Prodina for the campaign, Jenner embodies this entire collection. Her beauty is highlighted with heavy blush and long silver hair thanks to makeup artist, Ariel Yeh, and hair stylist, Jesus Guerrero. This photoshoot emphasizes Jenner’s modeling capability and her talent behind the camera. The collection is now up for sale and can be purchased through the fashion section of the Jean Paul Gaultier website.
