TikTok is Convinced Taylor Swift is Writing a Memoir and it’s Kinda Super Believable

Last weekend, Taylor Swift performed three shows in Nashville, her hometown. She used this momentous occasion to announce the release date of her next re recorded album; Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will come out on July 7th, just in time for the height of summer. TikTok is convinced, however, that that’s not all that’s happening this July. Some fans of the mega popstar have put together a pretty convincing theory that Swift is coming out with a memoir this summer.

It is a well known fact that Swift likes to leave cryptic clues in her Instagram posts, TikToks, or other messages to the world for her fan base to obsess over and untangle. It is also true that said fanbase comes up with a plethora of theories, and reads things as easter eggs that might just be meaningless. Still, this forecast seems to hold more water than others; at the very least, it’s very convincing.

It all started when Flatiron Publishing announced that a book by an as of yet anonymous author would be revealed on June 13th and then released on July 9th. This was followed up by a since deleted post about the book by Blacksburg Books, a bookstore in Virginia, with a caption reading “Publishers provide lists of upcoming books so that we can order them and have them on hand for the release date. WE get the title, author, and a brief description of the book. EXCEPT THIS TIME. There’s an upcoming new release, and they’re not telling us the author- all they’re saying is that it’s a biography/memoir, and that there’s a huge initial print run.”

This might seem like a stretch, until you remember that both June 13th and July 9th are dates that hold significance to Swift: 13 is famously her lucky number, and she often goes out of her way to incorporate it in her work in any way she can, and July 9th is mentioned in her song “Last Kiss” off of the album Speak Now (which is being re-released, that’s right, two days before July 9th).

On top of all of this, Swift’s short film based on her song All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) ends with the protagonist of the film, a more or less autobiographical character, giving a reading of a book that she has written.

Finally, in her announcement of the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) release on Instagram, the singer said that the album would be released “just in time for July 9th, iykyk”. Is this just a reference to her lyrics? Or is it something more? There are so many conspiracy theories floating around these days, and it is definitely possible that this will turn out to be fiction spun by eager fans. Still, if it is not her memoir coming out this summer, then that means that there is another very high profile author releasing a book. I guess only time will tell.
