Meet This Year’s CFDA Nominees
As New York Fashion Week comes to an end there could not be a better time for this year's CFDA nominees announcement.
This year the CFDA partnered with Amazon to recognize outstanding American fashion talent.
Each year the Council of Fashion Designers of America hosts an award ceremony honoring America's best and most promising honorees. (CFDA 2022 nominees portraits courtesy of CFDA)
An event that brings together the innovative and excelling modern talents who are paying their own legacy through their outstanding designs and craftsmanship.
An event that not only gathered the best of the best in the fashion game but has produced some of fashion's most iconic moments ever, some of them will be remembered forever. Remember when Rihanna wore a Swarovski-crystal-encrusted Adam Selman gown to receive the CFDA Icon Award in 2014 .

Take a look at some of my favorite nominees this year.
LaQuan Smith opted for fluidity at his SS23 runway show. Supermodel Elsa Hosk opened the show in a hot pink mini cut-out dress followed by sequins, transparencies, cut-outs and a lot of movement. LaQuan has been designing since he was a teen, a love that he cultivated through hard work which is now translated in his excellent tailored, provocative and sensual womenswear apparel.
Gabriela Hearst incorporates her roots into her designs which are characterized for their timelessness, uncompromising quality and sustainability. Growing up on a ranch in Uruguay she learned the meaning of luxury; beautifully crafted designs made to last. In 2015 she launched her line and through every collection it is palpable the designers approach to creating beautiful pieces through care. She strives to create “honest luxury” and utilizes noble materials, including a special silver fabric that lines her coats which prevents cell phone radiation from reaching the organs. Talk about creating with care. She has been honored as an Environmental Honoree for her contributions in creating positive change.
Fear of God, founded by Jerry Lorenzo, is at the forefront of American designers who are revolutionizing streetwear. His brand is all about quality, muted tones, gender neutrality reflected in his soft-spoken luxury apparel. An example of how hard work and dedication pays off, Lorenzo began his fashion journey with an elongated t-shirt and a dream. Soon turned into collaborations with big names including Big Sean, Kanye, Nike, Converse and PacSun. The magic of Lorenzo is his ability to capture culture through luxurious, simple, classic, comfortable and elegant designs.
The winners will be recognized on November 7 at Casa Cipriani in Manhattan.
