Harris Reed Kicks Off London Fashion Week
Harris Reed kicked off London Fashion Week with his spectacular, dramatic, over-the-top runway show.
Featuring Adam Lambert’s mesmerizing vocals and a 12 piece collection of what could be described as elevated art-piece fashion looks.
Reed brought the best of his signature sculptural silhouettes presented in various drastic drapes saturated with jewels, sequins and volumes.
Perhaps the London based designer is best known for his mastery at creating bigger than life headpieces. HIs design landed the cover of British Vogue with Beyonce wearing a black feather halo headpiece atop a horse, iconic.
This time Reed presented us with a huge pink double halo, a blue sequined top hat and hula-hoop like headpieces.
Reed has partnered with Missoma to create a moon and pearl motif jewelry top fit for a mythological princess, styled with a mermaid sequined skirt.
The collection was short but not much was needed. It was the exact amount needed to serve the lavish and theatrical couture beauty Reed creates. It really felt like a modern, satirical version of a 50s ballroom gala in the best way possible. As every other young designer, environmental and social consciousness is engraved in their design process which is why Reed is so keen on creating his masterpieces using deadstock materials which in no way compromise quality.
Reed designs with fluidity of expression in mind which helps him create pieces that push boundaries in even the most traditional spheres. His final look was his take on bridal wear and in true fluid fashion the bride wore a lavish ballerina-style corseted white-satin mini dress followed by a thin tulle trail. What made the look so spectacular was the white fan-out headpiece.
Reed's runway show really set the bar way up high for what is to come this London Fashion Week.
