Daniel. w. Fletcher Sets The Tone For LFW ss23

A LFW unlike any other as the death of Queen Elizabeth II shook the nation, with designers pulling out of the Fashion Week festivities where the previously exciting mood changed for one that got designers thinking how they would approach a mourning nation.

Questions about how to be sensitive or how to express a brand and designers individual feelings towards the death of a figure that not only represents the royal household of the largest monarchy but represents a lot of inflicted suffering.

“There’s a really strong relationship between British fashion and the royal family, so I think it’s fitting we continue,” Fletcher said.

Fletcher is a designer who also incorporates deadstock textile, which seems to be the newest norm among designers, finally! Collections made from absolute necessary quantities without creating unnecessary waste.

Daniel W. Fletcher’s latest collection is a continuous exploration on wearability, timelessness and luxury. Having worked with Louis Vuitton, Victoria Beckham, Burberry and Lanvin he has a well backed up background in expertise that make his collections air-tight perfect. A couture approach to menswear basic pieces with a youthful and playful touch. He balances his personal namesake brand aesthetic with his experience working with Y2K inspired brand Fiorucci.

An impressive resume!

D.w.F SS23 collection emphasizes good tailoring clearly visible in its breezy “office” shorts, loosely corset tops, boxy oversized shirts, draped pants and layered components. The gingham-checked pattern and muted tones were the perfect British. Representation of menswear to kick start LFW.

The collection was a tailored take on casual elevated streetwear. It was as if Virgil, Peter Do and Thom Browne had a baby and with a British accent. A collection that is built on bth rebellion and respect, a dark side that highlights glamour and everything that makes London a haven for design.
