Maggie Rawlins is so much more than a model. She was scouted by an agency when she was young, but decided to pursue a career in nursing as she was inspired by her grandmother who was a labor and delivery nurse. Later on in her life she was contacted again by another modeling agency, and Rawlins decided to pursue modeling full time. However, she was not quite ready to give up nursing for good. She made sure to keep her nursing license up to date while she was modeling, which has come in handy on some shoots. In an interview with the New York Post, she recalls a shoot in the Bahamas when crew members got into a small car accident, and she gave everyone a physical to make sure everyone was okay.

When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, Maggie Rawlins said it was an easy decision for her to step up and work at a facility in Queens to care for patients. She had been a nurse for six years, and she felt it was her natural responsibility to help out during those unprecedented times. In the same year she worked on the frontlines of Covid, she made her debut in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She has also been part of campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, Anne Klein fragrance, and she was part of a cover shoot for Maxim.

Rawlins has been able to use her new platform for good. She has been given a voice, and she uses it to help promote the work she does with OneWorld Health. The organization provides healthcare to underserved regions, and Rawlins has traveled to Nicaragua and Uganda to serve as a triage nurse for the nonprofit.

Recently, Maggie Rawlins has stepped up again as a nurse and helped treat people at the Ukraine-Poland border. She worked night shifts from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. seeing hundreds of people at the western Ukraine and eastern Poland border. Rawlins saw so many suffering from fatigue and dehydration after they had been traveling for several days. She worked urgent care while she was there–treating gunshot wounds, Covid cases, broken ribs, and respiratory infections. While she saw the suffering of many individuals, she also saw signs of hope. In her recount of events to Vogue, Maggie Rawlins said, “Every story was tragic, but the people I met and their resilience was super inspiring.” Doctors and nurses from all over the world have been coming together and helping others. Maggie Rawlins has helped inspire hope in a time with so much division in the world.
