The NYFW Shows Everyone is Craving To See
Finally! After two years with online resources, we are back and better than ever, in person. New York Fashion Week is giving looks to us from every runway, presentation, and street corner. Here are some of the hottest shows to attend this coming week:
Anna Sui
Based in New York, Anna Sui is inspired by vintage styles and cultural mysteries. With 84 collections, and more to come, you cannot miss this show on Feb. 15th at 5 pm. Anna Sui’s Spring/Summer 2022 collections shown in Fall 2021 NYFW screamed tropical island vibes. It also gave vibrant, 1970’s patterns and crochet. If you are one who admires bold colors, definitely take a peek at the new looks this season because these definitely are not pieces you would see on the street everyday. They are one of a kind.
Maison Atia
Rooted in sustainability and being a Kate Moss approved brand, need I say more? The faux-fur luxury brand is going to be walking the runway on Feb. 14th at 4:30 pm. Co-founders Gustave Maisonrouge and Chloé Mendel turn to playfulness and glamour when creating their products. The faux fur is called “koba” and is bio-based with recycled and deadstock/upcycled fabrics inspired by the mod looks of the 1960s-70s London women.
Private Policy
With touches of organza and subtle sexiness, Private Policy provides youthful looks in many of their collections. At 11 am on Feb. 14th, models will be displaying the fun clubwear on the runway. They also make use of silk, attached flowers, and cutouts amongst their clothing serving to a certain uniqueness.
Lisa Von Tang
Lisa Von Tang’s collections emphasize themes such as feminism and culture. Coming from a Chinese and German background, it is evident that the collections are shaped to fit these themes so diverse voices can be heard through fashion. Her statement pieces stand out with their textured silk and satin fabrics along with some embellishments. You can also view some of her work for the movie, “Crazy Rich Asians.” To connect with the messages behind Lisa Von Tang’s masterpieces, her debut is on Feb. 15th at 1 pm.
The Blonds
You want to see eclectic? You’re in the right place. The Blonds was created by designer Phillipe Blond and creative director David Blond in 2007. The hand-crafted, embroidered, glamourous looks are inspired by the entertainment industry to focus on the human form. Every fabric you can imagine is used in their collections from tulle, to sequins, fishnet, faux fur, gems, satin, velvet… You get it. The Blonds close a memorable fashion week on Feb. 16th at 7 pm.
