Over a hundred million eyes were on the field in SoFi Stadium of Los Angeles. The 2022 Super Bowl halftime show featured a medley of the biggest names in the music industry. Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre, West Coast natives and hip hop legends were joined by Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem who each performed their nostalgic hits. But the music was not the only thing that captivated fans in the stadium and across the country. The artists’ signature styles stole the halftime show. Snoop Dogg showed his support for the LA Rams in a blue and yellow bandana tracksuit, while Dre, 50 Cent, and Eminem nodded to their own original looks from the 90s and 2000s. Miami designer, Lila Nikole, was one of the main designers and stylists that curated the outfits of the Super Bowl LVI halftime show performers and dancers. Some of the stars had incredible looks that have a story behind them. As the only woman in the halftime spectacle, Mary J. Blige stunned on stage wearing a custom look by designer Peter Dundas. Dundas stated in an interview with Vogue that he has always been moved by Mary’s passion with which she sings, and he wanted to create a look that truly reflected that. Dundas worked with Mary’s stylist, Jason Rembert, to design something that was on brand for Mary. As a performer, she is very spontaneous with her movements, so it was essential for Dundas to design a look that could work with various movements. The white outfit embellished with silver, reflective leopard print accents was accompanied by stunning thigh high boots and a hat.

Kendrick Lamar’s polished look was from the last Louis Vuitton menswear collection designed by the late Virgil Abloh, which was presented in January in Paris. With the help of Kendrick Lamar’s stylist, Taylor McNeill, the tribute to the legendary designer made a statement on stage. The outfit featured a strong shouldered blazer that Abloh had been showcasing in his last few collections and tailored pants featuring a split and flared ankle. The rapper also accessorized with a Tiffany & Co. gold star and cross clip and diamond necklaces that hung from his shirt collar. Kendrick Lamar and his stylist were able to create a beautiful tribute to Virgil Abloh while also staying true to Lamar’s signature style.
