VaneBon: MOTOTAUT
Meet Vanessa, an up and coming designer that stands out for her retro-futuristic and glamorous designs.
After graduating from Central Saint Martins she interned at the prestigious fashion houses of Thom Browne and Kiki Kostadinovv and presented her first collection titled “VB2020- Over the Galaxy Of the Ultra Vixens” at London’s Fashion Week.
Now, she has come back to her native home, Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico where she founded her own label. The young artist is heavily influenced by women and wants to design for the women of tomorrow. VaneBon has created a universe of ultra-feminine silhouettes with structured volumes, bi-tech materials and futuristic-sportswear garments.
Now, back in Mexico, her second collection came to life under the title “MOTOTAUT”. A very ambitious project that summoned multiple creatives to deliver a stunning collection presented through a fashion film shot by Lola Ramirez which included a digital series of the garments. MOTOTAUT is a clear representation of the alternative future which VaneBon is designing.
Vanessa has become a designer to watch as well as her designs. Fashion comes and goes and what truly matters is the purpose behind it, the purpose behind creating in a world where there is an excess of production and consumption. The next generation of designers in order to make a. Meaningful impact should prioritize the costs of the outcome over beauty.
VaneBon uses technology to add value to her brand and incorporate the modern world to it. In collaboration with Aldo Coronel they created cyborg sirens, integrating technology and breaking the realm Boc what fashion can look like in the future, or today.
Her visual imageries are a sexy representation of queer inspiration. Even though her designs are purely inspired by by the femme physique she still encourages the breaking of gender standards and invites everyone to enjoy her clothes.
Vanessa has stated her passion for the digital universe and the future. A future she understands is in immediate need of help environmentally and socially. Remember we talked about purpose? In an interview for Cream Mexico, Vanessa mentions the role fashion has in creating said change. A vehicle for women to raise their voice by claiming their sexuality, their autonomy and choices. The way we present ourselves to the world should be a personal choice free from prejudice or meaning.
