Vogue World Runway Extravaganza
Vogue decided to bring the runway to the streets and invited everyone!
The highly anticipated event finally made its countdown last night. Loser Manhattan was the chosen venue where Vogue celebrated its 130th anniversary with a one of a kind fashion show. Bringing together fashion's biggest names in a star filled runway extravaganza that showcased designs from Balenciaga, Burberry, Dior, Gucci, Michael Kors and Coach. Vogue World wanted to bring fashion closer to the audience and live-streamed the whole event minute-to minute and we got to see all the looks, supermodels, celebrities and performers.
Vogue's September superstar and greatest athlete in the world, Miss Serena Williams, opened the show wearing a custom silver lame gown and cape that melted into the pavement. She was followed by BMX riders wearing Loui Vuitton, the chicest dog walkers wearing Off-White and Jason Wu followed by a parade of super models.
Now you can shop your favorite runway at Vogue Runways’ exclusive curation.
The event brought the best of the best including Mikhail Baryshnikov who danced down the runway, Howard University’s Ooh La La Dancers brought their festive spirit, even Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street made an appearance and another Supermodel reunion took place (first at the Fendi show).
With all this going on it was hard to take in everything, but one accessory that didn’t go unseen were the combat boots worn by almost everyone on the runway. The classic R13 and Dr. Martens models are symbolic of grungier style and a classic must have item. So what does this mean? Are combat boots the next big trend? I mean they have always been a huge part of every fall wardrobe so maybe what they are hinting at is that grunge juxtaposed with femininity is fall's next big thing.
Just when we thought we’ve seen it all, Lil Nas X made an epic appearance performing his hit song “Industry Baby”. Earlier he made his runway debut with Coach and this time he did it alongside Serena Williams and the Hadid sisters. Not a bad Fashion Week debut.
