Was All White the theme of London Fashion Week?

As London Fashion Week comes to an end, one monochromatic statement is seen time and time again on the runway, white monochromatic. In styles that stay true to the essence of the brand and in shades from ivory to snow white, over 10 brands presented a collection featuring one or many white monochromatic looks, each in its own way. To draw the element of color out of an entire look is like functioning without one of the 5 senses, and these three brands made up for an absence of color with unique styling, silhouettes, and textures.

Paola Carzana

Known for their dedication to sustainable and recycled materials and groundbreaking collections that tell a story, Paola Carzana presented at London Fashion Week on September 18th. Each of the 16 pieces shown was dyed by hand and assembled by Paolo himself. And like many, a simplistic colorway of all white was present in his collection, 5 looks in particular for him feature nothing but white or off-white textiles and accessories.

This collection in particular was made of deadstock and recycled fabrics. They carried an essence similar to his previous collections, with unique fabric movement, asymmetrical silhouettes, and unique layering. Look 5 of the collection featured white button-downs with raw, ripped, and distressed hems aswell as sporadic stitches and bunches. The top was paired with trousers in a slightly creamier hue of white. Slouchy and overlaid with an additional garment the pants feature a deep variety of dimensions. These shades of white and relaxed garments gave the essence of a blank canvas, a beautiful take of all-white for the brand.

Tove

Tove presented their Spring 2024 Ready to Wear collection this week in an elegant runway show at Hayward Gallery in London. The contemporary modern brand, known for its delicately feminine designs dabbled in all white aswell.

A gorgeous all-white blouse and trousers looked truly ethereal on the runway. A structured white long-sleeve top featuring dramatic triangular cutout down the chest and wrap-around ties was styled tucked into a pair of relaxed fit and flared white dress pants. This look has the beautiful modern woman feel the designer is known for paired with the absence of color.

Richard Quin

On a beautiful runway adorned with flowers, models walked to debut Richard Quin's Spring 2024 collection, which featured exquisite details such as embroidery and beading in a bold palette of spring colors. However, some pieces had an absence of color, but all the same beautifully feminine details.

Richard Quin is known for high detail and intricate pieces. One beautiful look from the collection featured a gorgeous white tea-length dress. Embroidered with small white flowers. The modest neckline and bust were enhanced with flowers forming a diagonal square design. The dress's drop hem shifted into a stunning white tulle, also embroidered with flowers. The look was styled with white stockings, heels, and flower earrings.

Other brands show off white monochromatic looks on the runway for Spring 2024 in London and beyond including Genny in Milan who contrasted with texture rather than color and Mains all-white suits and sportswear looks. Is all-white a palette we can expect to have a lot more of in the coming seasons?
