Firmenich Awarded Sustainability Award at Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars
The FGI 38th annual Night of Stars gala and awards ceremony took place on October 13th, 2022, in New York City. The event celebrated artists and brands like Michael Kors, Christian Siriano, Prabal Gurung, Dionne Warwick, Firmenich, etc. Some of the awards given were “Superstar Award”, “Fashion Star Award”, “Sustainability Award”, and “Beauty Award”.
Author Deepak Chopra presented the Sustainability Award to Firmenich, accepted on behalf of the company by Firmenich President Global Perfumery Ilaria Resta.
Firmenich is a privately-owned perfume and taste company founded in 1895 in Geneva, Switzerland, by Philippe Chuit. Today, Firmenich is the world’s leading privately-owned fragrance company. Their mission statement states, “We create positive emotions to improve wellbeing, while preserving the planet”.
Firmenich has made many popular fragrances from leading luxury brands. Some of these fragrances are Alien Goddess EDP by Mugler, Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, R.E.M. by Ariana Grande, and Gucci Bloom by Gucci.
Throughout the years, Firmenich has received many awards and nominations regarding their ethical and sustainable practices. They were recognized as one of the 2022 World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere, received a 7.5 Sustainalytics ESG rating, and was ranked #37/15,000 by Sustainalytics. Their sustainability approaches include reaching a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2039, increasing their proportion of biodegradable ingredients in their fragrances to 96.6%, and achieving a Living Wage certification by Fairwage Network in 2022.
The proceeds from the ticket sales from FGI Night of Stars will go towards the non-profit organization’s mission statement to “promote educational programs devoted to fashion and to the study of fashion related businesses through the creation and awarding of scholarships; establishment of internship programs; provision of career counseling services”.
