London Fashion Week AW25: Top 5 Trends from the Runways

London Fashion Week AW25 has officially come to a close, but the conversation continues. Industry experts are unpacking the challenges designers face—from the soaring costs of staging a show to this season’s noticeably lighter schedule. Yet, despite these obstacles, London Fashion Week remains a beacon of creativity and innovation. Not even Brexit or the closure of Matches (pun intended) can dull the brilliance of this year’s standout collections. Designers like Simone Rocha, Ashish, Burberry, Erdem, and Emilia Wickstead once again proved why London is, and always will be, a fashion capital to watch.

Here are Some of the Biggest Trends We Found:

  • Transparent Skirts

  • Colored Metallics

  • Grey Ensembles

  • Plaid Outerwear

  • Fringes & Movement

Be Seen in the See-Through Skirt

Transparency is in—literally. The see-through skirt is making waves, proving that sheer fashion isn’t just for the runway but a bold statement for the streets. By summer, expect it to be everywhere. But designers are taking it even further—positioning the sheer skirt not just as a breezy resortwear piece but as an unexpected Fall/Winter staple. Fashion publications are already buzzing with styling tips, proving that this trend has staying power. And if Central Saint Martins graduates, Conner Ives, Jawara Alleyne, Simone Rocha, and S.S. Daley are all backing it, you know it’s a bet worth taking. Get ready to embrace the sheer revolution—because it’s not fading anytime soon.

Rainbow Metallica

When the inevitable shift from summer to fall arrives, traces of its vibrant energy will linger in Fall collections, thanks to a bold and dynamic color palette. Metallics, typically reserved for holiday glamour and New Year’s Eve celebrations, are stepping into the spotlight much earlier this season. Designers are incorporating high-shine fabrics into their less-than-casual pieces, proving that shimmer isn’t just for December.

The Groufit Returns

LFW has had many designers featuring incredibly well-put-together and effortlessly chic ensembles completely made of grey. It has become such a strong concept in my opinion and these designers are showing how to truly make a groufit shine. Fashion East, Lauren Manoogian, Mark Fast, Temperley London, Pauline Dujancourt, Emily Wickstead, and Kent&Curwen know exactly what they're doing and I personally plan on following their lead.

London Fashion Week has proven that grey can be all but boring. Designers like Fashion East, Lauren Manoogian, Mark Fast, Temperley London, Pauline Dujancourt, Emilia Wickstead, and Kent & Curwen are making a strong case for monochrome sophistication. Their expertly layered, texture-rich ensembles showcase just how chic and intentional a head-to-toe grey look can be.

It’s time to let the groutfit shine—and I, for one, am fully on board.

Preppy & Chic Plaid

Having plaid as a part of your outerwear shows a sense of academia, responsibility, and sophistication. Designers like Chopova Lowena, Jawara Alleyne, Toga, Tolu Coker, Burberry (of course, classic), and Kent&Curwen are leaning into their preppy chic side with these fabulous pieces.

When fall arrives, the style pendulum reliably swings toward preppy aesthetics. As the school year kicks off and temperatures shift, fashion enthusiasts instinctively reach for pleated skirts and crisp collared shirts. But this season, designers are elevating the look with a bold twist: plaid outerwear. More than just a pattern, plaid in outerwear channels the academia aesthetic, one guided by elegance, and effortless sophistication. Designers like Chopova Lowena, Jawara Alleyne, Toga, Tolu Coker, Burberry (a plaid master, of course), and Kent & Curwen are embracing the preppy chic look with coats and jackets that feel both essential and astonishingly modern.

Fringes & Movement

Fringe added texture and movement to various pieces. Designers like Jil Sander and Ferrari featured dangling, leather fringe, while Versace and opted for sparkling silver details, elegantly adorning halter neck dresses. This embellishment provided dynamic movement, adding a touch of all-American nostalgia to winters best looks.

The presence of fringe in multiple collections suggests it will be a key textural element for the upcoming season, influencing everything from statement coats to trousers and accessories. Expect to see fringe not just as embellishment but as a structural element, a resurgence of theatricality and bold glamour with a nod to modernity.
