Chopova Lowena, a London-based label, has garnered cult status as international fans and celebrities are obsessing over their carabiner-belted skirts.

Chopova and Lowena came together during their college years at CSM where they bonded over their love of all things handmade. An appreciation and deviation of making clothes within the parameters of sustainability and praising artisanal work.

The designers like to embrace the unusual, making their brand grow through non traditional mediums. They have opted in the past to present their collections through a photo book instead of a runway, alluding to their personal history that embraces folklore literature.

By this point they are clearly in th run to becoming mishmash queens. Every design is a mixture of textures and prints that to the untrained eye could be perceived as a total mess but if you know you know. They certainly do not have an easy-to-imitate aesthetic but that is the beauty that lies in their designs.

Their London Fashion Week debut presented a collection where their usual justoposture between folklore and sportswear was visible. The duo manages to intertwine different worlds flawlessly, the themes of 80’s music, Medieval Era, punk and Bulgarian folklore surprisingly are the perfect match, who knew!

Chopova Lowena is synonymous with care-free, fun and self-expressive fashion. Achieved through their over-sized structural pieces, maximalist silhouettes, print clash, and visually chaotic prints.

New designers seem to be completely adjacent to creating through sustainable and ethical practices, as modern consumers we should ask for nothing less. This designer duo literally bonded and founded their label over this principle. A dogma that translates in their use of deadstock fabric and employment of skilled female artisans from Bulgaria who hand paint the brand's beautiful textiles.

Just last week their SS23 “A Rose is a Rose is a Rose” collection debuted at the Porchester Hall. Where guests witnessed what could be described as a true Bulgarian festival embraced in thee fun animal shaped crystal accessories, ribbon tied dresses, larger than life lapel necks. A Festival where goths, punk, folklore and gender free norms meet to have the time of their lives, ha ha. A Festival that celebrates diversity and the casting of the show really helped this subculture and expressive individuality shine through.
