Met Gala 2022 Beauty Looks - Bleached Brows to Studded Lashes
At the 2022 Met Gala, the beauty extended past the ruffles and corsets and into timeless beauty looks that elevated the entire outfit. This year’s theme, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, rifling off of Gilded Glamour, the makeup was kept soft, elegant, and simple. Here are some of our favorite trends and specific looks that stepped outside the box to bring sparkle and shine.
Kaia Gerber sported a voluminous cascade of spirals with a winged liner and soft lips, while Blake Lively chose minimalistic makeup to show off the masterpiece of her studded and intricate dress. Gigi Hadid went for a bare-face, clean makeup effect but stood out with a bold and sexy red lip. Normani chose to elevate her modern and all black piece with bright green eyeliner and blush of every shade. Kendall Jenner surprised everyone by bleaching her eyebrows. She kept her products within the family: using Kylie Skin and Kylie Cosmetics. Last but not least, tiny pearls and a cat eye leveled up Dove Cameron’s eye makeup while abstract hair accessories kept the drama going. She ended it off with a nude lip and natural eyebrows.
Each celebrity and guest paraded around the carpet in their own unique and glamorous look, but seeing the theme of gilded glamour, 19th-century accessories, dark crimson lip colors, directional hairods, and museum-worthy manicures have entranced us all. One of these trends are ethereal waves. These cascading curls falling out of the softness and pureness of a look truly set the tone for this year's theme. Special mentions include HoYeon Jung and Phoebe Dynevor. Gleaming accessories are another trend that most if not all participated in, from tiaras to embellishments, to feathers and sparkles, some of our favorite looks include Naomi Campbell and Olivia Rodrigo. Classic red lips will always be a red carpet mainstay, but deeper, moodier crimson colors were the move for this year’s gala. Berry-stained to hot red to dark violet lips were all seen on the carpet. Tessa Thompson and Maude Patrow embellished the dark lip trend for the night.
