Olivia Rodrigo Returns
Driver’s License by Olivia Rodrigo was the only song that seemed to play in early 2021, the actress and singer’s hit song, set the stage for a ridiculously successful first album and breakaway from her Disney Channel days. Two years later, Oliva is back and better than ever, with her Sophomore album, GUTS, scheduled to debut on September 8th. Vampire, a single from the album dropped on June 30th and has sat comfortably at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 since. But beyond her music, Olivia Rodrigo has kept busy this year, the star has been featured on the cover of US Vogue for the month of August. The now 20-year-old talks about growing up and anticipating her new album in her cover story.
In a stunning cover image, Olivia wears a youthful and shimmering Emporio Armani dress. The button-up A-line dress features a gray button down the front, a gray collar, and a large ascending black flower as a tie. Embellished with multiple sizes of silver and iridescent sequins across the whole dress, the singer shone like a disco ball in front of a picturesque nature backdrop and white wall. She shared that this was her favorite ensemble from the cover shoot.
In another look, styled by Alex Harrington for Vogue, Oliva looked like a perfectly wrapped birthday present in a royal blue Loewe blouse. The abstract top featured over 15 looks of satin fabric creating an appearance similar to a foil gift bow. She wore a contrasting white Prada skirt with the top. It featured large white floral appliques that appeared to jump right off the skirt.
In an Instagram post commemorating the experience, Olivia wrote,
“Wowowow so unbelievably honored to be on the cover of @ vogue magazine ❣️thank you …”
Being a cover star isn't new to Olvia, she has been seen on the cover of many magazines, including Teen Vogue, Vogue Singapore, Elle, and Rolling Stone.
In addition to her cover, Olivia also did a 73 questions video with Vogue diving into her home including her piano room and record shelf featuring her 3 Grammys. They talked about her recording music, past performances, favorite shows, and more. In the video, the singer wore a blue, green, and red plaid skater dress. She shares that she got her hands on this dress, one she had dreamed of owning at Chloë Sevigny’s sample sale in NYC. She styles the look with high socks.
With so much anticipation for the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s second album following the major success of her first, there’s no questioning why publications like Vogue want to know all about this young star’s experience. So much success at such a young age is phenomenal, if she stays on the same track, she is sure to be a part of even greater things.
