The Neiman Marcus Awards are Back and Better Than Ever

The Neiman Marcus Award is a very prestigious and progressive award, and after a 6-year break, they’re back. However, alongside the original Neiman Marcus Award, there will be two new categories, the Creative Impact and Innovation awards. To give context on this award's distinction, some of the past recipients are Christian Dior, Karl Lagerfeld (twice), Giorgio Armani, and Oscar de la Renta.

This year’s awards were held at La Suife Girafe overlooking the Eiffel Tower to close Paris Fashion Week and celebrate the award’s 85th anniversary. Many celebrities and past recipients were spotted, but over 50 brand representatives were at the function. To later celebrate this awards show, Neiman Marcus will be holding a fashion show on April 10th and it will be sold at 10 in-person stores and online. This will also happen again in the fall with an entirely new and exclusive collection for Neiman Marcus customers.

The award for The Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion is Brunello Cucinelli. He is known for his cashmere garments and especially his humanitarianism. His approach to designing is as sustainable as he can make it while also making sure that when it comes to his employees, ethics, and morals are on his mind. He has restored multiple old factories so that Italy, his home country, can keep its beauty and rich history. His Italian craftsmanship is extremely impressive, and the Neiman Marcus Group agrees because he was chosen to design the collection that will debut on April 10th as a celebration of the awards coming back.

Next, Jonathan Anderson was granted The Neiman Marcus Award for Creative Impact in the Field of Fashion. Anderson is currently the creative director at LOEWE and can keep the brand’s history when designing but give it a bit of a modern twist. He balances his work at LOEWE with his own brand, JW Anderson, which has received many awards from the British Fashion Awards. Modernizing his clothes is all about creating unisex lines, playing with the different feminine and masculine silhouettes, and changing them up to create new looks for the runway.

The final recipient of this award show is Amina Muaddi, who received the Neiman Marcus Award for Innovation in the Field of Fashion. She is said to be one of the most influential designers of this decade with her one-of-a-kind shapes and very uncommon materials used for her shoes and jewels. Muaddi is not afraid to take a risk with her designs and do something different. Her shoes have been worn on the set of Euphoria and by celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Rihanna. While she has been designing for quite a few years, her own brand launched in 2018 when she was in her late 20s.

The Neiman Marcus Group hopes to make this event annual again, and they will possibly be adding other categories in the future to give credit to more designers for their intense and innovative work in the fashion industry.
