Trend Alert! Oversized Monograms are here to stay

Monograms are iconic, from Louis Vuitton to Micheal Kors, leathers to canvas, they're a not-so-subtle way to announce to the world which brand you favor. More than before, we’re seeing brands blow up their monogram jumbo, presenting their brand in an even more outstanding fashion. Fendi, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs are hopping on to this statement trend.

Fendi is known for its double F logo which translates perfectly into a simple monogram design. New 2023 arrivals for Fendi include the Fendigraphy mini, a small brown hobo handbag featuring Fendi’s signature FF Jacquard monogram. The bag’s statement element is its gold Fendi lettering on the bottom. Fendi’s new PEEKABO ISEEU handbag features a large Brown FF Jacquard print overland with transparent sequins on the exterior. This style comes in two sizes and is another summer arrival for Fendi featuring their large double F jacquard monogram.

New for the season at Louis Vuitton: “all thing pastel”. Charm bracelets, apparel, and handbags in shades of baby blue, peach, black, and pink are found throughout this season's selection. The mini-moon bag, a tiny leather handbag offered in pink, lavender, cream, and lime green featured an embossed oversized monogram. The brand’s signature LV is unmistakable. The monogram is so zoomed that the LV is only featured in the pattern once. Usually, it is shown over 20 times on their handbags. This compact bag is a perfect little accessory for summer looks in need of a little color.

Marc Jacobs’ has been on a roll, releasing new colorways for some of their most iconic bags like The Tote Bag and the Snap Shot aswell as new styles like the St. Marc. On the apparel side, Marc Jacobs has been dropping tons of black and white pieces covered completely with their signature monogram. New for ready-to-wear Fall/Winter 2023 includes their seamed monogram blouse and dress which both feature just the “M” in a pattern that almost resembles chevron rather than lettering, creating a design that can be interpreted multiple ways.

Monograms are no doubt a statement, and these brands are taking it above and beyond. Will monogram prints continue to get bigger? Or have they reached their max?
