Up and Coming Designer: Nensi Dojaka
Coming up right around the corner is London Fashion Week. Without some of the bigger, more established names, like Burberry, all eyes will be on the rising star, Nensi Dojaka. As a recipient of the LVMH prize and the Fashion Award for emerging designer talent, she has accomplished so much during the chaos of the pandemic. When Bella Hadid wore a Nensi Dojaka design to the MTV Video Music Awards, people learned Dojaka’s name. Even more celebrities, like Zendaya, Dua Lipa, and Rihanna, have become fans of the hot new designer. Nensi Dojaka’s designs spread like wildfire after being spotted on celebrities, and she continues to grow her brand.
As a designer whose label has only been around for two years, she has already made quite the name for herself in the world of fashion. Coming out into the industry during the height of the pandemic was extremely difficult, but nonetheless, Nensi Dojaka has gained a loyal following, and is planning to expand her brand even more in the coming years. As she and her brand rise in popularity, she wants to keep the momentum rolling and see what more she can do. She wants to expand her collections and designs to offer to a wider audience.
Nensi Dojaka has claimed the look of a sultry, alluring woman and has used that in her designs to highlight the empowerment of women. She tends to focus on black and other darker color tones that evoke feelings of mystique and confidence. Her designs consist of lingerie-like styles, lots of cutouts, skin baring, strappy styles, and the perfect black mini dresses. The deconstructed nature of some of her designs represent the imperfections of every woman that make individuals who they are. Nensi Dojaka’s designs celebrate the strength of women.
Her last collection for Spring 2022 was a decadent combination of all her signature details, and even included a few styles that showed a softer side of Nensi Dojaka’s designs. A deep orange and magenta sleek bodysuit, a soft white mesh top, and a pale pink top paired with matching tailored pants were a few of the more colorful designs of her previous collection, demonstrating the range of meticulously beautiful designs of Nensi Dojaka.
Since Dojaka is shifting her focus to creating designs for a wider range of people, her Fall 2022 collection that she is debuting at London Fashion Week will include jersey dresses, jackets, and swimsuits. She is even trying her hand at outerwear and knitwear. Her mini dresses and lingerie styles are meant to be styled and worn with other garments, which is where the new, more expanded collection comes in. On the runway, Dojaka will present how her signature designs and her new ones can work together cohesively. Pastel colors will even be included in her new collection, as she slightly strays away from her signature black. She is working to create more wearable, everyday looks. This takes incredible skill and talent for a designer to go beyond their signature designs and explore other kinds of styles for a different audience. Nensi Dojaka is just getting started in the fashion industry, and will no doubt continue to leave her mark.
