Weekend 2 of Coachella Was Filled With Major Surprises

Weekend 2 of Coachella was just as exciting and surprising as Weekend 1. There were surprise guests, shocking headliners, and some interesting decisions from certain artists.

Labrinth brought the same electric energy this past weekend as the first. The crowd was electric and the surprise guest that he brought out couldn’t have been predicted by many. Between her acting and modeling career, she hasn’t released music in a long time making this show even more special. Even though she started singing in the dark where no one could see her, it was very clear that Zendaya was the surprise guest for this weekend’s set. The Euphoria actor sang “I’m Tired” and “All for Us” with Labrinth and they could hardly be heard from the screaming audience.

However, Zendaya was not the only special guest during Labrinth’s set. Sia and Maddie Ziegler made an appearance during the show for “Thunderclouds” from the trio consisting of Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo. Labrinth gave an emotional shoutout and thank you to Sia in between his songs. He talked about how much the “Chandelier” singer impacted him when he first went to Los Angeles. “I wanna say I fuckin’ love this girl. When I first came to L.A., I was depressed and fucked up … When someone picks you up and supports you as a friend, you gotta hold them close.”

Additionally, Frank Ocean was originally performing during Weekend 2 but after his Weekend 1 fiasco, he dropped out last minute. During the first weekend, the singer made his crowd wait over an hour until he came on to perform. Fans were furious due to the long wait and his overall awkward stage energy. There were long and uncomfortable silences between songs and the view of the stage was minimal, which didn’t allow the crowd to see him well. In the middle of his set, there was a performance from a DJ that no one was expecting. Between the late start and the additional length of his show, he had to suddenly end the show. The singer ended up costing the festival some pretty hefty fines because he kept performing after Coachella’s curfew.

On the other hand, there were some other good things that came out of the second weekend, like some great looks from our favorite artists. Below are just a few of them.
